Hundreds of Thousands of Doctors Refusing to Participate in Obamacare

This is the next shoe to drop to show just how disastrous Obamacare has been for this country. Now we find that hundreds of thousands of doctors across the country are simply opting out of treating anyone who comes to them with an Obamacare health plan. And this number is growing, too.
The problem, as Barbara Boland points out, is that doctors will go bankrupt on Obamacare.
Doctors are expected to take a 40 percent cut in pay to take on Obamacare patients. Of course, Obama claimed that they could easily make that up by taking on more patients, but most doctors say they already have as many as they can handle.
Besides, more patients, less patients… who cares about that? Would YOU take a 40% pay cut mandated by the government? And if you did, could you live off that?
Over 214,000 doctors won’t participate in the new plans under the Affordable Care Act (ACA,) analysis of a new survey by Medical Group Management Association shows. That number of 214,524, estimated by American Action Forum, is through May 2014, but appears to be growing due to plans that force doctors to take on burdensome costs. It’s also about a quarter of the total number of 893,851 active professional physicians reported by the Kaiser Family Foundation.
In January, an estimated 70% of California’s physicians were not participating in Covered California plans.
This also means that a lot of people who think they got great insurance will find that they can’t get a doctor to take them, so this supposed coverage they are getting will be less than useless.
Boland has a lot more in her report, so go check it out.

Yep then they will be replaced with nurse practitioners and substandard medical help treating the public....scary but IMO all a part of the communist agenda.......people will die because of the lack of good care.

BREAKING: Doctors in All-Out Rebellion Against Obamacare… This Could Be a Game-Changer

The constant joke that is Obamacare has just gotten funnier – provided, of course, that you weren’t shunted from your plan because of it. If you were, the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) has some bad news for you: according to a new survey, over 214,000 doctors won’t accept the newer plans inaugurated by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). (H/T CNSNews.com.)
That’s about 25% of the nation’s 893,851 physicians. The study also asked doctors to rate Obamacare’s impact on their practices; 59.4% said it was “unfavorable” or “very unfavorable,” as opposed to 13.5% who rated it “favorable” or “very favorable.” Maybe Obama’s line ought to have been, “If you like your doctor… have you ever considered finding another one? Plenty of fish in the sea, you know…”

According to CNS News, there are a wide variety of reasons physicians are rebelling against Obamacare, none of which will shock you (unless you’re a liberal).
There’s the issue of reimbursements: according to the American Action Forum, “It is estimated that where private plans pay $1.00 for a service, Medicare pays $0.80, and ACA exchange plans are now paying about $0.60.” It’s a wonder that anyone didn’t foresee narrow acceptance of plans that reimburse 75% of what Medicare does, given the number of doctors who won’t accept Medicare.
There’s also the issue of deductibles. Because of the cost of the Obamacare plans, the majority of ACA subscribers went with high-deductible plans, which carry a lower premium. Unfortunately, a great number of these patients are also low-income, increasing the risk of nonpayment and leaving the doctor with no reimbursement whatsoever from either patient or provider.

The biggest issue, however, revolves around one of the provisions of the ACA. HHS currently mandates that patients who stop paying their premiums remain covered for 90 days. During the last 60 days of this period, the physician is responsible for tracking down the patient and getting them to pay, essentially turning our doctors’ offices into collection agencies.
With all of these obstacles, you may be asking just how the government expected doctors to make money off of Obamacare. Well, get this – Obama and Co. thought that, while reimbursement would be much lower, there would be a larger insured base, so doctors could see more patients each day. Yes, our nation’s slothful, shiftless physicians would finally be forced to put their noses to the grindstone. I know I’ve felt that the pace of healthcare in this country has been too leisurely for too long.
As more and more physicians drop the terminally-flawed ACA, let’s hope that our lawmakers take notice and put Obamacare out of its misery.
