Virginia Governor Defends Bill Legalizing Aborting Babies During Childbirth

    January 30, 2008

    Pam Key

Wednesday on WTOP’s “Ask The Governor,” Gov. Ralph Northam (D-VA) defended the Repeal Act, which would repeal Virginia’s current restrictions on late-term abortions and legalize abortion up to the point of birth.

Northam said, “This is why decisions such as this should be made by providers, physicians, and the mothers and fathers that are involved.”

He continued, “When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of obviously the mother, with the consent of the physician—more than one physician, by the way—and it’s done in cases where there may be severe deformities. There may be a fetus that’s non-viable.”

Discussing the controversy over Democratic delegate Kathy Tran acknowledging her bill would allow abortion when a woman was going into labor, Northam said, “If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother. So I think this was really blown out of proportion. We want the government not to be involved in these types of decisions.”

Abortion in New York (and soon Virginia?): We are one step away from throwing babies in the Tigris

Women from two millennia ago would discard and kill their own infants at the smallest sign or instinct of a deformity or weakness, much like liberal women today, caring more about the humane treatment of animals than human babies.

    January 30, 2019
    By Taylor Day

In the ancient Roman text Instructor, Clement of Alexandria wrote about how women of his day tended to birds in cages with more sensitivity than their newborn babies. He wrote, "[T]hey expose children that are born at home, and take up the young of birds, and prefer irrational to rational creatures." Women from two millennia ago would discard and kill their own infants at the smallest sign or instinct of a deformity or weakness. And much like liberal women today, they cared more about the humane treatment of birds (or whales, or trees, or cats) than human babies.
An abortion bill recently signed last week by New York's Governor Cuomo allows for all abortion restrictions to be lifted until the moment of birth. Yesterday, a similar proposal was put forth by Virginia Democrat Delegate Kathy Tran which would repeal any and all abortion restrictions until the mother gives birth. That means that up to the moment that a woman is fully dilated, and a doctor would still be protected under the law if they performed an abortion.

Todd Gilbert (R): Where it’s obvious a woman is about to give birth...would that be a point at which she could still request an abortion?

Kathy Tran (D): My bill would allow that, yes

And like New York's new controversial abortion oversight, pregnant women are no longer protected by laws that can charge attackers with the death of a child they're carrying even when they had no intention of abortion. Charles Camosy, a theologist who sits on the board of Democrats for Life of America, argued in a recent op-ed that the Reproductive Health Act has helped pro-abortionists' argument that a fetus is not an individual. He writes, "Intellectually honest people know that when a pregnant woman is killed, something different has happened than [sic] when a woman who is not pregnant is killed. Both situations are incredibly tragic, but in the former situation, two human beings are killed, not one."
Consider the Monday news story from Arizona where a man is charged with the killing of a woman who was just a few weeks away from delivering her third child. During a press conference, Officer Elcock noted that the scene was so tragic because there was the loss of not only the woman's life, but that of her unborn child as well, saying "This is definitely one of those incidents that really is going to affect the police department for a long time."
The man, Fabian Durazo, is being charged with two separate counts of murder in the first degree because, unlike New York law, Arizona still recognizes the egregiousness of a crime this horrific.
Pro-abortion activists do anticipate that the New York law will eventually be brought before the Supreme Court, but according to Camosy, they're hoping to argue that "a fetus [is] a mere object to be killed and discarded in an abortion context" because they've accomplished overturning other legal contexts that have protected in-womb babies when they were considered individual humans that could be killed by homicide.
And they are celebrating this. The sky over NYC turned pink the evening that Governor Cuomo signed the new legislation, which coincided with the anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade case. The disturbing irony is that the woman behind that historic Supreme Court decision, Norma McCorvey, fought for the rest of her life to overturn the ruling and was a pro-life activist until she died. Now women in pussy hats party in regard to the biggest regret of her life.
That's the thing with liberal "do-gooders." They can preach causes of peace in any global event from Syrian refugees to caravans of economic migrants from Mexico yet act as demented mass-murderers if questions of the ethical decline of our cultural is raised by these new laws. Pro-abortionists pretend that this new legislation somehow progresses women toward a utopian future when, in reality, we've never been closer to tossing babies into the Tigris River like the barbarians from our history.
Third-trimester abortions are now legal in the state of New York, the same state where you can be imprisoned for up to a year if you sell a baby rabbit before it's eight weeks old. Because for some wicked reason, liberal lawmakers, like ancient Roman women, value animals more than babies.

10 Stars Slamming New York's Extreme Abortion Law

    January 29, 2019

    Katie Yoder

Amplified by the media, celebrities and voices in entertainment regularly celebrate abortion and “reproductive justice.” But not all of Hollywood is with them – especially when it comes to the recent passage of New York’s abortion-friendly law.

Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the Reproductive Health Act (RHA) on January 22, the 46th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court case that legalized abortion in the United States. The RHA allows abortions “within 24 weeks from the commencement of pregnancy, or [when] there is an absence of fetal viability, or at any time when necessary to protect a patient’s life or health” – the patient meaning the mother, not the unborn child.

While the RHA appears to restrict abortion after 24 weeks, it doesn’t: the legislation fails to define what could be considered threatening to a mother’s “life or health.” That’s something these stars noticed, from Patricia Heaton to Dean Cain.
Here are 10 big names expressing outrage against Gov. Cuomo’s legislation:

    1. Patricia Heaton
The actress brought up former Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell in her condemnation of New York’s law. Among other things, Gosnell was convicted in May 2013 for one count of involuntary manslaughter and for the first-degree murder of three babies after a horrific trial in which witnesses remembered baby abortion survivors “swimming" in toilets “to get out.”

“Everything Kermit Gosnell was arrested, convicted, and jailed for is now legal in New York - except in New York you don't even have to be a doctor,” stressed Heaton in a Jan. 24 tweet that included a video explaining the ramifications of the RHA. “Nice work @NYGovCuomo.”

    2. Dean Cain

The Lois & Clark star expressed similar sentiments in a Fox Newsinterview, saying that the law would “make the crimes of Kermit Gosnell legal.” Cain is familiar with Gosnell’s story, having recently starred inand served as an executive producer for the film Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer.
“The worst thing I learned [during the film’s production] was what actually takes place during a late-term abortion,” Cain urged. “It’s gruesome.”
In a September interview, Cain admitted that even though he identified as pro-choice, he condemned Gosnell for performing countless abortions after 24 weeks.

    3. Robert Davi

“I cannot tell you how disturbed I am to hear that in New York state they passed a bill whereby you can abort babies up to nine months,” the Die Hard actor said in a Jan. 25 video. “I’m astounded. I don’t understand what’s happening to this country.”
Davi wanted to know how Gov. Cuomo, who is of “Italian-American roots,” could “let this happen and celebrate it and cheer for it.”
“You really think you can rip a baby from the womb at nine months and it’s okay?” he asked at one point. He concluded by asking Americans to join him in prayer.

    4. Kaya Jones

Jones rose to fame as a former Pussycat Doll. Today, among other things, the singer serves in the National Diversity Coalition For Trump and routinely advocates for the unborn on Twitter.
“So New York has just allowed Governor Cuomo to sign into effect abortions up to 9 months. That’s cold blooded murder!” Jones reacted to the news Jan. 23. “God help you evil people. I pray for your salvation.”

    5. Charlie Daniels

The 82-year-old country rock singer went so far as to compare Gov. Cuomo to a Hitler figure.
“Watch the wrinkles on Cuomo’s face lengthen as the ramifications of the thousands of murders he has sanctioned come to bear on him,” Daniels tweeted to his followers on Jan. 26. “The NY legislature has created a new Auschiwitz [sic] dedicated to the execution of a whole segment of defenseless citizens. Satan is smiling.”

    6. Kevin Sorbo

Sorbo criticized the “shocking” New York abortion law, declaring “Wow.....what is going on with people in America,” in a Facebook post on Jan. 25.
He argued that the “bill went much further than Roe v. Wade” because it “struck down an existing law, section 4164 of NY’s Public Health Law, which mandated medical care for any baby born alive during an abortion.”

    7. Margaret Colin

The actress tweeted one word: “Horror!” Her Jan. 22 messageresponded to a tweet from Gov. Cuomo confirming he had signed the RHA.

    8. Scott Baio

“Walls are not immoral..............full term abortions are!!!” the Happy Days actor tweeted Jan. 24. His tweet included an image, attributed to Hannah Grieser, of the traditional “I [Heart] NY” sign. But in the place of a heart, Grieser drew a cartoon of an unborn baby with blood droplets.

    9. Brooke Ligertwood

The Hillsong Worship singer posted a old photo of herself pregnant with daughter Rooney on Jan. 24 to criticize the abortion law.

“Rooney was in here. She could hear everything. She knew my voice, my heartbeat,” the Christian singer said.
“Yet - if this was me in 2019 in New York from this week on, I would be within my rights … to go into a clinic and have a toxic substance injected into her skull, where she would then writhe in agony as she died a horrific and possibly prolonged death,” she added. “I would then deliver her corpse. Not a cluster of cells - a fully formed child.”

    10. Jenn Johnson
The Bethel Music singer also chimed in by posting a description of a late-term abortion to Instagram.
“This is pure evil. Full term abortion legalized in 19 states & now New York. PRAY this is overturned,” she said.

These 10 aren’t alone. Other big names, like NFL player Benjamin Watson, have protested the law, along with Catholic leaders and American mothers. While many in the media prop up abortion supporters, the pro-life movement exists. A Marist poll revealed Jan. 15 that 75 percent of Americans want abortion limited to the first three months of pregnancy. New York’s abortion law is out of touch not just for some in Hollywood but also for many in America.

STUNNING: Virginia Governor Echoes Barack Obama — Promotes MURDER of Live Nuisance Babies After Birth (VIDEO)

    January 30, 2019

In the Illinois legislature Barack Obama voted four times in support of infanticide.

OBama opposed life-sustaining treatments for babies born alive after failed abortions. It’s one of his unbelievable and extremist positions that the liberal media liked to overlook.

In 2012 Women Speak Out PAC released an ad exposing Obama’s radical support for infanticide.

The ad includes Gianna Jessen who survived as a baby following a baby.

    Fast forward to 2019…

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam (D) advocated for the murder of newborn babies in a radio interview with DC-based WTOP on Wednesday.

After years of convincing young women that their unborn babies are ‘just a clump of cells’ and they have a ‘choice’ to dispose of the ‘cells,’ the Democrats are now openly advocating for the murder of born-alive babies, also known as infanticide.

    We knew this was coming.

Governor Northam was asked about a new bill that would lift restrictions on late term abortions (3rd trimester) in Virginia.

The radio host pointed out the new bill proposed by Kathy Tran, a Democrat lawmaker in the Virginia House of Delegates, would allow for a mother to abort (kill) the baby minutes before giving birth.

“She [Kathy Tran] was pressed by a Republican delegate about whether her bill would permit an abortion even as a woman is essentially dilating, ready to give birth and she answered that ‘it would’ permit an abortion at that stage of labor,” the radio host Julie said. “Do you support her measure and explain her answer,” Julie added.

“I wasn’t there, Julie. And I certainly can’t speak for delegate Tran. But I would tell you one, the first think I would say, this is why decisions such as this should be made by providers, physicians, and the mothers and fathers that are involved,” Northam said. “When we talk about third trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of obviously the mother, with the consent of the physicians, more than one physician by the way. And it is done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus that is non-viable.”
Northam continued, “So in this particular example, if a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen…the infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

    Yes, he said that.

How can killing a baby that would be viable outside the womb be anything but murder?

    Just heard on Rush.
The Dem gov of Virginia wants to allow babies to be born, keep them "comfortable", then kill them (if desired).

Horror – Virginia Governor Endorses Post Birth Abortion…

    January 30, 2019 by sundance

This is the second time in two weeks when we have seen an actual public policy discussion where Democrats are casually advocating for ‘post-birth abortion’. I can’t even type about this level of sheer horror without praying…. Madness. Evil madness. How is this conversation even possible?

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, who is a pediatrician, is asked about a new State bill (thankfully it failed) that would have lifted all restrictions on third trimester abortions in Virginia.

If a mother is in labor…the infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother”

    @LilaGraceRose

Great news! A Virginia bill that would have removed all protections for babies in the womb, and even allowed abortion on babies 9 months in utero during active labor, has been defeated.

    Uh, Governor Moron:
There is no such thing as a “post-birth abortion.”
“Abortion” means “premature ending of a process or condition.”
There are two ways the process or condition of pregnancy can be ended: the death of the child and/or mother or the birth of the child.
    1) The death of the child and/or mother.
    A. The death of the child can be from spontaneous internal factors that cause the premature end of the condition of pregnancy, known as a spontaneous abortion, also called a miscarriage.
    B. The death of a child and/or mother can be from an external cause such accidental injury or intentional harm to either the mother or the child that results in the death of the mother or child and prematurely ends or aborts the condition or process of pregnancy.
    2) The birth of the child.
    A. The birth of the child can result from internal natural causes initiated by the child at the appropriate time that result in the timely end of the condition or process of pregnancy.
    B. The birth of the child can result from external causes such as an accidental or intentional injury or death of the mother that causes the baby to be born and prematurely ends or aborts the condition or process of pregnancy.
    C. The birth of the child can be caused by surgical intervention such as a C-section that prematurely ends or aborts the condition or process of pregnancy.
The abortion of a pregnancy in all cases is necessarily the deliberate or accidental premature end of the condition or process of pregnancy.
The premature abortion or ending of a pregnancy does not necessarily result in the death of the child.
There are only two classes of reasons a child dies in connection with ANY premature ending of the pregnancy: uncontrollable factors and deliberate action.
    1) Uncontrollable factors.
    A. The child was too defective to continue prenatal development and died.
    B. The child was developmentally too young to be able to survive in the conditions outside the womb.
    C. Accident or illness damaged the child to the extent that it died.
    2) Deliberate actions
    A. Although developmentally too young to be able to survive in conditions outside the womb, the child was deliberately prevented from getting to that point by poisoning it, chemically burning it, or surgically dismembering it as a means of prematurely ending the condition or process of pregnancy.
    B. Although developmentally old enough to survive in conditions outside the womb, the child could not because those aborting the pregnancy deliberately killed and dismembered the baby so it could not survive as a means to prematurely end the process or condition of pregnancy.
    To sum up:
All abortions of any kind are necessarily pre-birth.
All abortions of any kind necessarily result in the premature end of the process or condition of pregnancy.
Not all premature endings of the process or condition of pregnancy, spontaneous or deliberate, necessarily result in the death of the child.
The premature end of the process or condition of pregnancy is not necessarily synonymous with the premature death of the unborn child.
Because there is no physical, intrinsic difference between a unborn children who are old enough to survive in conditions outside the mother’s womb, whether they are spontaneously born prematurely, or they are delivered by C-section, or in the case of an elective premature end of the process or condition of pregnancy they are able to survive or do survive, failure to help them survive is negligent homicide and deliberately killing them is not “post-birth abortion” but outright murder. Leaving them sedated to be “comfortable,” Governor, while a mother decides whether she wants them to live or die is criminal negligence and allowing her to decide to “let it die” is your participation in her infanticide.
Governor, you and the other members of your infanticidal death cult are on notice.
