100 Structures Damaged by Weed, CA Fire | KDRV

WEED, Calif., — A rapidly spreading wildfire is forcing immediate evacuations in Weed and the communities of Carrick and Lake Shastina.

The fire began around 2:15 as a vegetation fire in the Boles Creek area and has spread to more than 300 acres.

100 structures have been confirmed as either damaged or destroyed and more than 1,000 more structures are threatened.

Resources have been called in from as far away as Sacramento and include helicopters, air tankers and VLATs.

Evacuation centers have been established at the fairgrounds in Yreka. Highway 97 from Weed to A12 is closed, as well as I-5 Southbound from Yreka to Weed.

I have friends whom have lost everything in this fire. IT started right near town and with the high winds they didnt stand a chance. ITs heart breaking. They barely had enough time to gather their pets and get out with the clothes on their backs. Devastating fire.
