Republicans Are About To Gain Another House Seat

Republicans Are About To Gain Another House Seat

    Micheal 1 Hour Ago

A long-drawn-out battle in New York’s 22nd Congressional District race is looking to end soon.

Republican Claudia Tenney is now up 122 votes over Democrat Anthony Brindisi in New York’s 22nd Congressional District.

The delay in the House race is due to the fact, hundreds of votes were mishandled by the Oneida County elections staff.

Democrats in the last election won the majority of seats in the House but Republicans flipped 14 seats and it looks like Tenney will close the gap even more.

WBNG News reported these details on the race:

The residents of New York’s Congressional District 22 are one large step closer to knowing who their next representative will be.

Republican Claudia Tenney picked up 232 votes Friday, while Democrat Anthony Brindisi only picked up 139. This puts Tenney’s total lead in the race at 122 votes.

These new votes are the result of Oneida County attempting to correct another mistake made by its Board of Elections. The NYS Supreme Court found the county BOE failed to process the voter registrations of up to 2418 individuals who timely registered via the DMV.

As a result of this error, the court ordered Oneida to determine how many of these affected voters still cast an affidavit ballot in the election. All of these ballots were originally rejected by the county, but the court’s order to count these led to the increased vote tallies.

See what the Washington Examiner had to add:

The Republican candidate in a narrow House race added to her lead Friday after a newly discovered error produced hundreds of eligible ballots.

Republican Claudia Tenney leads Democrat Anthony Brindisi by 122 votes, up from 29 votes, in New York’s 22nd Congressional District race after a mistake by county elections staff was discovered that resulted in more than 300 new votes, according to Syracuse.com.

State Supreme Court Justice Scott DelConte recently learned of a mistake by Oneida County elections staff in which more than 2,400 people registered to vote on time at the Department of Motor Vehicles but the staff failed to process their applications — meaning that those voters would have been told they weren’t registered on Election Day.

It’s about time a Judge did his job instead of labeling voter fraud as a conspiracy theory.
