Website Offers Low-Cost Medication Solutions

HOUSTON - With Americans spending about a quarter of a trillion dollars, each year, on prescription medications, the cost can take a big bite out of the family budget.

A web-based program, sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry, offers to connect low and fix-income people with hundreds of programs that can provide low-cost and free medications.

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance has, so far, helped connect 7 million people to such programs and the service is free.

Users simply have to answer some questions about their income and the medications they take in order to see if there’s a match with a program that will help.
