The silver lining in this whole disgusting fiasco is that we will now have a second member of the United States Supreme Court who understands the danger of power wrongly placed, how it is used, who it abuses, and how what was formerly considered beyond comprehension, unthinkable and therefore improbable or impossible, really isn't any more. That it's real, that it not only happens, it happens with the support of the institutions that exist to prevent it even to the people who should be most insulated from it.
We're in a time when the once unthinkable is the new reality. It's important to have people ono the United States Supreme Court who know first hand the injustice that can be invoked by the government and through a government "process" against innocent Americans.
When Kavanaugh is confirmed next week, we will now have 2 of 9 who know this from personal experience: Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh.
My favorite statement among many made by Brett Kavanaugh was the one where he said he places his faith in God and the fairness of the American People. Americans are fair, because we strive to be. That statement told me he understands our nation and our people, which means in context with the words of laws, constitution and precedents, he truly will be a great justice for the US Supreme Court.
We the people need him far more than he needs this job. He could leave government service tomorrow and make millions in private law practice, but that isn't what he was called to do, and so he chose to abide his destiny.
