Oregon Senate Bill 845 is a BAD bill and should be opposed! It would allow a "driving privilege" card for illegal aliens in Oregon. It undermines the good Oregon driver-license law (SB 1080) passed in Feb. 2008 that requires proof of citizenship before the granting of a driver license.
If Oregon were to pass SB 845 and give driver privilege cards to illegal aliens we would become a magnet for illegal aliens, drug smugglers, and ID thieves.
These 3 sponsors of the bad current bill, SB 845, Ben Cannon, Tina Kotek, and Chip Shields always side with illegal aliens. The 4th sponsor, Bob Jenson, is unreliable and tries to get on all sides.

Exactly kellygreen! No licenses for illegals. Oregon did the right thing when it decided to do the right thing, and this would throughly undo all of the hard work by many Oregonians (OFIR) who called and lobbied for an end to privelages for illegals.

The Road to _____ is Paved with Good Intentions.
Monday evening there was a hearing at the Capitol on SB 845. Lawmakers were hearing testimony from illegal aliens and their advocates professing their urgent need for the Legislature to pass a bill providing them with a drivers privilege card so they can get back and forth to their jobs. In that one sentence at least three laws have likely been broken.
1. They have confessed to being in the country illegally.
2. They have confessed to working in the country illegally.
3. An unscrupulous business has hired them illegally.
4. Several even confessed to driving without a license illegally.
They continued their sometimes tearful testimony for nearly 2 hours. Hundreds more shouted slogans in Spanish on the steps of the Capitol building while Hearing rooms overflowed with others there to make a show of strength in numbers. What appeared to be self-appointed PCUN Security guards in spray-painted T-shirts kept the crowd focused and loosely within the boundaries of a hand-held rope.
Opponents to the bill were also given an opportunity to testify. With simple questions opponents asked:
“Why is the Legislature even hearing this testimony?â€
