    Tennessee (2009)

    Tennessee (2009) Session

Mission: Encourage the Senate to pass the House bill that prohibits sanctuary cities.

    Mission:
    Pass *HB 0808 ( SB 1237 )

    Task: Call, Fax, e-mail

    Message: (Example)

    To the Honorable Senator ___________,

I'm writing / calling to ask Senator __________ to please support HB 0808 ( SB 1237 ) , illegal Aliens should not receive in-state tuition, not only is it against federal law the "Immigration Nationality Act 1996" unless you are planning to give in-state tuition to American students from the other 49 states, But most of all in these economic hard times it is just wrong to give relief to students who should not be in this country in the first place, but especially when so many American children do not have the money to attend college at all.

    Respectfully,
    XXXXXXX

    Synopsis:
Prohibits a student from being admitted to a public higher Education institution unless the student can establish United States Citizenship or that such student is in the United States lawfully.

A proposal to make Tennessee's public colleges and universities more carefully screen out illegal immigrants has been delayed in the House after higher education officials raised concerns about the cost of heightened enforcement.

Rep. Stacey Campfield, a Knoxville Republican and sponsor of the measure, says officials aren't doing enough to determine whether students are U.S. citizens.

Higher education officials currently rely on students to accurately fill out forms that ask for their Social Security numbers, home addresses and which high school they graduated from.

Sheriff Tim Gobble, Bradley County,TN is running for Congressman Zach Wamp's seat in Washington,D.C.

His Sheriff Department has a CAP (Criminal Alien Program) partnership with ICE and Homeland Security to identify and deport illegal aliens.

Based on his actions, and his words, his candidacy is one to support for another voice against illegal immigration. Financial help is appreciated as we know.

America has long been a nation of immigrants. I support the concept of legal immigration and remain proud that our country is a desired place to come for freedom and opportunity. The immigration process should be streamlined and conducted in a way that promotes legal immigration and national security. I am a supporter of education and work visa programs, which bring us some of the finest minds in science, medicine and technology.

I am opposed to illegal immigration and believe it is in the interest of the American people to have secure borders to prevent illegal immigration that jeopardizes our national security. The first requirement of citizenship is the ability to obey the laws of the land and those who come here in violation of those laws have in essence failed the first test of citizenship.

I do not support amnesty for illegal aliens.

As a sheriff, my practice is to confirm the citizenship of all persons arrested for violating laws in Bradley County and turn over to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency all those who are identified as illegal aliens for deportation once their case is adjudicated and sentence is served.

Secure borders are necessary to reduce the risk of terrorist attack, prevent international and organized crime from freely operating in our country and prevent the influx of street level gangs such as MS-13.

I support English as the official language of government.

After September 11th, when I was with the Secret Service and travelled, there were many flights where I worked in conjunction with Federal Air Marshals and at times served as the only "air marshal" for flights where there were no designated marshals. This is a good example of leveraging resources which the government should do more of these days.

Made calls to Tennessee Congressional members at the National level, requesting that they support the 5 bills listed at NumbersUSA for measures against illegal immigration. I also requested return phone calls on the bills, if they are for or against.

Tennessee Marsha Blackburn has a bill to help law enforcement with immigration costs.

Call your Congress member and other state Congressional leaders to ask them to support the 5 bills. Ask for return calls or emails.
