    Short Answer

Has your campaign addressed the topic of illegal immigration in speeches,
commercials, ads, or campaign materials? What are those messages? (Please provide
sources or examples) Yes. I endorse securing the borders and enforcing current
immigration law before taking on the task of immigration reform. I am strongly
opposed to any form of amnesty. I believe in attrition through enforcement. These
positions are clearly stated on my website, have been addressed in interviews with
the Gloucester Daily Times on 10/10/2006. Additionally, I have expressed these
views during on air interviews with various radio talk show hosts in the Boston
    area.

What do you feel your opponent's stance on illegal immigration or immigration reform
is or would be? My opponent is aligned with the Kennedy Plan for immigration
reform. His recent votes against the Immigration Law Enforcement Act, The Secure
Fence Act, The Federal Election Integrity Act, and HR 4437 clearly show his
    position on illegal immigration.

Have you been endorsed by or received contributions from any other immigration
reform or illegal immigration reduction groups at this time? No

Would you openly accept an endorsement and or contribution from ALIPAC? Yes

Please use the remainder of this space to share any further opinions on these
    issues. (optional)

Despite the positive role of immigration in the history of America, there is
widespread and deepening concern that our current immigration policies are not
working. Poorly designed policies and weak enforcement of those policies have led to
disturbing vulnerabilities in homeland security. In addition, these poorly designed
policies are undermining the values and principles that traditionally have been
associated with immigration. Large-scale immigration without effective assimilation,
for instance, threatens social cohesion and America’s shared values. Millions of
illegal immigrants in our country belie the core principle of the rule of law. These
concerns cannot be left to fester. They must be addressed through a comprehensive
reassessment of our immigration laws and procedures that is consistent with the
fundamental principles and best traditions of this great land of opportunity. I see
the solution to illegal immigration as a two-step process:

    1. Secure our border.

    2. Enforce our immigration laws and make the decision, finally, to deny amnesty
to people whose first act in the United States was a violation of the law.

    -------------------------------

    Candidate Pledge

I, Richard W. “Rick” Barton, hereby pledge to stand with the American public to have
the US Border secured and existing immigration laws enforced with the intention of
reducing the number of illegal aliens entering and remaining in the US. I understand
that the vast majority of Americans want the border secured, taxpayer benefits for
illegal aliens ended, local police helping to enforce immigration laws, and
employers that hire, aid, and abet illegal aliens to be charged.

Furthermore, I will not support any trade agreement or Executive Branch treaty that
compromises our ability to enforce our existing immigration laws and threatens US
    sovereignty.

I will actively oppose any attempt to remove or replace the current laws that say
illegal aliens are to be deported with a guest worker or temporary worker program
that allows illegal aliens to stay or quickly return to the US.

    Signed,

ALIPAC Endorses Rick Barton for Congress

    October 23, 2006
    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    CONTACT:
William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC)
    (866) 329-3999 or WilliamG@alipac.us

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC is pleased to offer our endorsement to the Rick Barton for Congress campaign because Rick Barton wants our borders secured, our existing immigration laws enforced, and illegal aliens to leave the United States of America.

"Over 80% of the voters consistently indicate they want our border secured and our existing immigration laws enforced," says William Gheen of ALIPAC. "While some lawmakers in Washington want to change our existing laws and allow illegal aliens to stay in our nation, Rick Barton will oppose any Guest Worker or Temporary Worker Program that would allow illegals to stay. Rick Barton wants illegal aliens to go back to their homes in the nations they are citizens of."

Illegal immigration has become a top issue in the 2006 campaigns. There are currently 12-22 million illegal aliens in America. Most Americans are aware that this problem has been created by the non enforcement and minimal enforcement of our existing immigration laws. According to surveys of US Border Patrol agents, illegal crossings have increased as some US lawmakers have called for amnesty disguised as a Guest Worker or Temporary Worker Program.

"It is common sense that for any law to be a deterrent, the penalties must be greater than the rewards." says William Gheen. "Illegal aliens can never reimburse us for what they have taken and therefore must return home. Can you imagine what America would be like if bank robbers only had to return a portion of the money when caught for robbing banks?"

Americans are being told by some politicians such as John McCain and Edward Kennedy that they must accept a Guest Worker Program because "We cannot deport 12 million people."

Americans do not have to deport 12 million people. Enforcement of our existing laws by fining employers, securing the border, empowering local police, and removing taxpayer benefits for illegal aliens will cause millions of illegals to leave on their own. Currently, illegal aliens are leaving the state of Georgia and parts of Pennsylvania due to local efforts to enforce the law in those areas. (See 'How To Reverse Illegal Immigration' at www.alipac.us)

Americans for Legal Immigration is a one of the largest national organizations fighting illegal immigration. ALIPAC is a multi-ethnic organization that enjoys the support of many LEGAL immigrants. Supporters are organized in all 50 states. For more information, please visit www.alipac.us
