    Candidate Background Information:

    From campaign website:
I was raised on a farm near Wimbledon, North Dakota. Planting and harvesting crops
on my dad's farm, I developed a love for the land, for growing crops, and
productivity. After graduating from high school, I traveled to Parana, Brazil and
worked a livestock and grain farm run by a mission organization dedicated to
training indigenous people to be self-sufficient and industrious.
Upon returning home, I enrolled in Bethany College of Missions where I received a
degree in Cross-Cultural Studies. I then traveled to New Zealand and worked on farms
in the Bay of Islands further gaining a global perspective of farming and its
    methodologies.

In 1989, I married my wife Alison. We moved back to North Dakota where I attended
NDSU studying agricultural economics until 1992. It was at NDSU that I began to
develop an interest in politics and visioning how North Dakota constituents could be
    better served in Washington.

In the spring of 1992, I moved back to the Wimbledon area and began building a farm
of my own. In 1996, I suffered a spinal cord injury when my tractor was struck by a
semi-truck. Cutting-edge treatment, prayer, and a lot of hard work gave me the use
of my legs again. I have continued to farm, and my wife and I enjoy each one of our
    seven children.

My accident has given me the perspective that life is very short. My bid for Senate
comes out of this realization; it is an opportunity to give back to North Dakota the
many things it has given to me and my family.

    Short Answer

Has your campaign addressed the topic of illegal immigration in speeches,
commercials, ads, or campaign materials? What are those messages? (Please provide
    sources or examples)

    Yes.

    Quote from Brochure:

"America was built on immigration and it should continue to be a place where people
across the globe can come and pursue the American dream. We should not encourage
immigrants to get their start here by breaking the law. Congress has to make border
security a priority and bolster our laws by providing for greater enforecement. I
am in favor of facilitating a more efficient process for those seeking legal
    citizenship."

    Quote from website:

America is land founded upon the dreams and aspirations of immigrants. People for
generations have risked much and sacrificed much in order to become a part of the
American dream. Many of us in North Dakota are one, two, three, and four generations
away from immigrants who came as land was being opened up in North Dakota, which was
billed as "the Land of Opportunity." Immigration is what built this state and has
made America stronger and more prosperous.
I believe our nation needs to continue to welcome those who seek to immigrate to the
United States and build a better life based on the American ideals of liberty and
free enterprise. It is vital that those people from around the globe who wish to
enjoy the benefits of citizenship seek to do so legally. Breaking American laws is
no way to begin embarking on the American dream. As a nation it is against our
well-being to reward those who have shown contempt or disregard for our laws.

America changed on September 11th. The freedoms we enjoyed and took for granted
suddenly became a lot more precious. Protecting them has become a crucial concern
for all of us. Because of this, I believe we need to have strong border patrols and
funding to reinforce our borders. When the border has been breached our laws must
have meaning and strong enforcement must be in place. Deterrents in areas most
vulnerable to exploitation demonstrate our commitment to upholding the law. Amnesty
is a wink and a nod; it is not the way to build responsible citizenship.

What do you feel your opponent's stance on illegal immigration or immigration reform
is or would be? He has received a recent grade of "D" and a career grade of "C" on
the Americans for Better Immigration website.

Have you been endorsed by or received contributions from any other immigration
reform or illegal immigration reduction groups at this time? No

Would you openly accept an endorsement and or contribution from ALIPAC? Yes!

Please use the remainder of this space to share any further opinions on these
    issues. (optional)

    Candidate Pledge

I, Dwight Grotberg, hereby pledge to stand with the American public to have the US
Border secured and existing immigration laws enforced with the intention of reducing
the number of illegal aliens entering and remaining in the US. I understand that the
vast majority of Americans want the border secured, taxpayer benefits for illegal
aliens ended, local police helping to enforce immigration laws, and employers that
hire, aid, and abet illegal aliens to be charged.

Furthermore, I will not support any trade agreement or Executive Branch treaty that
compromises our ability to enforce our existing immigration laws and threatens US
    sovereignty.

I will actively oppose any attempt to remove or replace the current laws that say
illegal aliens are to be deported with a guest worker or temporary worker program
that allows illegal aliens to stay or quickly return to the US.

    Signed,

    Dwight Grotberg

ALIPAC Endorses Dwight Grotberg for Senate

    October 24, 2006
    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    CONTACT:
William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC)
    (866) 329-3999 or WilliamG@alipac.us

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC is pleased to offer our endorsement to the Dwight Grotberg for Senate campaign because Dwight Grotberg wants our borders secured, our existing immigration laws enforced, and illegal aliens to leave the United States of America.

"Over 80% of the voters consistently indicate they want our border secured and our existing immigration laws enforced," says William Gheen of ALIPAC. "While some lawmakers in Washington want to change our existing laws and allow illegal aliens to stay in our nation, Dwight Grotberg will oppose any Guest Worker or Temporary Worker Program that would allow illegals to stay. Dwight Grotberg wants illegal aliens to go back to their homes in the nations they are citizens of."

Illegal immigration has become a top issue in the 2006 campaigns. There are currently 12-22 million illegal aliens in America. Most Americans are aware that this problem has been created by the non enforcement and minimal enforcement of our existing immigration laws. According to surveys of US Border Patrol agents, illegal crossings have increased as some US lawmakers have called for amnesty disguised as a Guest Worker or Temporary Worker Program.

"It is common sense that for any law to be a deterrent, the penalties must be greater than the rewards." says William Gheen. "Illegal aliens can never reimburse us for what they have taken and therefore must return home. Can you imagine what America would be like if bank robbers only had to return a portion of the money when caught for robbing banks?"

Americans are being told by some politicians such as John McCain and Edward Kennedy that they must accept a Guest Worker Program because "We cannot deport 12 million people."

Americans do not have to deport 12 million people. Enforcement of our existing laws by fining employers, securing the border, empowering local police, and removing taxpayer benefits for illegal aliens will cause millions of illegals to leave on their own. Currently, illegal aliens are leaving the state of Georgia and parts of Pennsylvania due to local efforts to enforce the law in those areas. Americans for Legal Immigration is a one of the largest national organizations fighting illegal immigration. ALIPAC is a multi-ethnic organization that enjoys the support of many LEGAL immigrants. Supporters are organized in all 50 states. For more information, please visit www.alipac.us
