District Information

Please give a brief description of your district: The Second Congressional
District of Rhode Island is essentially the left side of the state map. It runs from downtown Providence to Block Island taking in some old mill towns, suburbs and some small almost rural communities near the Connecticut line.

It has voted Republican on the Congressional races (Claudine Schneider) and has supported Republican Governors 5 times the last 20 years.

As all districts do it has its share of urban areas, college campuses, trailer parks and up scale housing.

Small and compact, it is barely 25 miles wide and 30 miles north to south. That is the secret to the race – the compactness makes it among the most cost effective seats in America. With only three true daily papers, 3 TV stations, 3 AM Radio, and 2 FM radio outlets, the cost effectiveness is undeniable. There is the usual share of weekly’s and like that exist everywhere in the country.

A candidate in this district can be anywhere in less than an hour. No overnight travel, no huge phone bills and no struggle to be two places at the same time. It is difficult to imagine that more than 200,000 votes total will be cast in an off year race.

These are some of the reasons why RI 2 is ripe in 2010.

Percentage of Democrat, Republican, and Unaffiliated Voters:

20% Republican, 30% Democrat, 50% Unaffiliated

PLEDGE
If elected or re-elected to the US Congress, I will oppose any form of Amnesty or path to citizenship for illegal aliens, including Comprehensive Immigration Reform which would turn millions of illegal immigrants into voters thus destroying future borders of America. I will use the full power of my office, including impeachment if necessary, to insure the Executive Branch secures America's border immediately and begins to adequately enforce the existing immigration and border laws of the United States, which were enacted by Congress at the behest of America's citizenry. I understand that the failure of the Executive Branch to secure our borders and enforce existing immigration laws is depriving all Americans of a Republican form of government and depriving our states of protection from invasion as mandated by the US Constitution. I intend to use the power of Congress to immediately remedy this problem that is costing many Americans their jobs, wages, taxpayer resources, property, security, and sometimes their very lives.

So help me God,
