Schools and Churches need to partner together and start a program to grow fruit trees, apples, pears, oranges, plums, potatoes, tomatoes, squash, onions, green beans and vegetables to help subsidize the cost of school breakfast and lunches. Any extra food provided is a plus.
They have plenty of property to grow produce.
Get the students involved to learn gardening.
Start a pilot program. Keep it simple. Each place pick one fruit or one vegetable to grow. If it is successful, add more variety on the property.
Our cities should be planting fruit trees on streets to provide food for food banks.
Our prisons should be growing fresh fruit and vegetables for them to eat as well. Let the prisoners garden and harvest the food.
