    TIP OF THE DAY

Tea tree oil helps with the itch from poison ivy. If you get into poison ivy wash the area as soon as possible with cool water and soap, if you are far from home try putting some mud on the area to absorb and remove the oils. When the itching starts wipe the area with tea tree oil. It will stop the itch. If the itch comes back wipe with the tea tree again and repeat as necessary till the rash is gone

    TIP OF THE DAY

If you have beans that are older than a year you may find it hard to get them to cook.

If you have old beans that you would rather not throw out try this.

For each cup of beans add 3 cups of water , the beans and a half teaspoon of baking soda to a large pot and bring to a boil.

Turn the fire off and cover the beans, let them soak for an hour. Then drain and rinse, put beans back
into pot add fresh water and cook till tender, anywhere from 40 minutes up to a couple of hours if they are really old. Once tender add salt to your taste.

The acid from the backing soda helps loosen the skin on the beans so the water can rehydrate them.

When ever you cook beans don't add the salt till they are tender. If you are storing food and beans are part of it, make sure to also have plenty of baking soda.

These are so handy to have. I keep some in my car, my purse, my first aid kit and in suitcases. They work well and fit almost anywhere.
