    Romney Nomination May Be Contested

    By Roger F. Gay

Mitt Romney has not secured the Republican nomination yet, and there's no guarantee that he ever will, but if it is handed to “the presumptive nominee” at the National Convention a lot of people will call “BS on that!” The nomination process is still underway and growing increasingly violent. Ron Paul supporters are enduring false arrests, detainment, broken bones and slander as they simply exercise their constitutional rights of voting and participating in party politics, and winning delegates.

For months now, the establishment GOP has tried every corrupt trick in their handbook to remain in power. It isn't just a matter of vote and rule rigging to give Mitt Romney the nomination. Local party officials are losing their plush positions, and they're going to greater and greater lengths not to let that happen. The “shenanigans” as they've been so politely called, really started with misreporting election and caucus results, and throwing out the official rules to implement a railroading process for delegate selection. Eventually, when it came to the process of electing delegates, Ron Paul supporters began documenting the dirty tricks.

In both Maine and Nevada, for example, Romney supporters were caught distributing counterfeit delegate slates. In Arizona, there were complaints of ballot stuffing and the convention was eventually shut down when it appeared likely that a Ron Paul supporter would be elected as the national committeewoman. In Massachusetts, after Ron Paul supporters won 16 of 27 district delegate slots, state party leaders quickly moved to try to invalidate the results.

In March, the “establishment” in Missouri tried to railroad adoption of a Romney delegate slate, telling participants they were not allowed to use camera equipment. By the official rules, cameras are allowed in fact, and Paul supporters posted videos of people being arrested for attempting, peacefully, to follow well-understood procedural rules in a counter move against the obvious corruption. This was the first recorded incident of the use of force to rig the election results.

It didn't stop there. In state after state, problems were reported in county gatherings, while “establishment” officials in some cases refused to record results from large pro-Ron Paul counties. In May, Oklahoma officials cheated throughout the entire process and then tried to shut down the convention when they realized they were still in a losing position. Convention delegates, evicted from the building, held the convention in the parking lot.

Facing an obvious loss in Nevada, “establishment” officials walked out of the convention to eventually set up a “shadow party” at Romney headquarters. Across the country, under the watchful eyes of video cameras, they're simply refusing to participate in any sort of honest process. The pattern of corruption is quite consistent and the evidence is rapidedly becoming overwhelming.

Over the weekend, the violence escalated.

2nd Video: Assaulted Ron Paul Chair Responds After Release From Hospital (Please Share!!) - YouTube!

Faced with a stunning loss at the state convention in Louisiana, where Romney had received a minority of popular votes, “establishment” thugs attacked Henry Herford Jr. after he had been elected State Central Committeeman in an effort physically stop the transition of power. In yet another instance, Ron Paul supporter Alex Helwig, the properly elected Chairman of the Rules Committee, was arrested by Shreveport police as he made a motion to remove the previous chair. During his brief detainment, some of his fingers were broken and when he returned to the event he was walking with aid of a cane.

This is apparently what Charles Krauthammer meant, several months ago, when he predicted that Ron Paul couldn't win, because the establishment won't allow it. Although a clean sweep to rid us of all these criminal bums along with the defeat of their candidate Mitt Romney is not likely, Dr. Krauthammer may have underestimated the tenacity with which some Americans are willing to fight for free and fair elections. It ain't over yet.

Ron Paul supporters understand full well that they're not part of some fringe group fighting for an undeserved win over a more popular candidate. The main obstacle is not his desire to rein in the military-industrial complex or his consistent record of voting against increased federal spending and intrusion. It's corruption. When the Paul camp recently refocused its campaign efforts, it was in a way that will more effectively counter the problem. The new effort will also attempt to gather evidence, not just in delegate selection, but in misreporting results of popular votes.

All in all, it's looking increasingly likely that some in the Romney camp will face jail time, and as news of election fraud spreads, the thought of general public acceptance of Romney's nomination grows increasingly absurd.

Ron Paul Snatches Half of Louisiana's Delegates

    By Kenneth T. Walsh
    June 4, 2012

Another weekend, another state Republican convention where Ron Paul's forces managed to capture another batch of delegates to the Republican National Convention.
This time, it was Louisiana, where supporters of Paul and front-runner Mitt Romney split the vote and Paul apparently won a majority of the delegates to the national gathering.

Paul strategists say the Texas congressman, who is the lone remaining challenger to presumptive nominee Romney, captured 27 of the 46 delegates to which Louisiana is entitled.

Louisiana GOP spirals into chaos as Ron Paul delegates injured, arrested
    By Stephen C. Webster
    Monday, June 4, 2012 10:43 EDT

Several supporters of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) sustained injuries while being arrested during the Louisiana Republican Party’s state convention over the weekend, in a conflict that engulfed the meeting after Paul’s supporters overwhelmed other delegates and voted in new leadership, only to be ignored.

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) won the Louisiana primary and received 10 delegates, while former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) took second, earning five delegates along with it. Paul finished fourth in the primary, behind former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA), but his supporters dominated the state’s caucusing process in April, meaning he stood to gain as many as 30 delegates at the state convention.

And with an audience widely stacked in his favor on Saturday, it seemed likely that Paul would again emerge from a state convention the unexpected victor… That is, until the LAGOP chairman turned the process on its head.

Just ask the Louisiana rump GOP establishment.

That establishment has swallowed the Kid Kristol Kool-Aid. Kristol has demanded that the GOP kick out Ron Paul, and now brags that he has purged from the party all foreign policy experts who veered from the neocon line.

Since the Rockefeller days (if not Alf Landon), it has been clear that the GOP establishment prefers being in charge of a minority party wallowing in the trough rather than in the bleachers watching a majority party reclaim freedom but shutting the water off to the Hot Tub Contingent.

And who cares, anyway? After all, the Kristol Kid has already declared victory: Obama is a "born-again neocon," remember?

The Dwarfs are for the Dwarfs.

Bilderberg Group scared of the Paul family

    Published: 04 June, 2012, 19:47

Activists protest on June 9, 2011 in front of the Suvretta House five-star hotel in the chic Swiss ski station of St Moritz, where the Bilderberg Group is holding its annual meeting (AFP Photo / Fabrice Coffrini)

The 2012 Bilderberg Conference is officially over, but members of the elusive society may have made a big decision during this year’s event. One source is reporting that the top-secret meeting ended with a running mate picked for Mitt Romney.

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels is likely to be elected as the candidate for vice president under Mitt Romney, claimsa source close to the Bilderberg Conference. Journalist Jim Tucker has been investigating the annual closed-door meetings for decades and tells the website Infowars.com that, before the 2012 Bilderberg meeting wrapped up, Gov. Daniels was decided on as the GOP running mate.

A Romney/Daniels ticket would make sense for many reasons, but Tucker suggests that it may have something more to do with just shared ideologies between the Indiana governor and the founder of Bain Capital. The real reasoning behind the decision, explains Infowars, is that the members of the Bilderberg Group are seeking an alternative to another likely running mate: Kentucky Senator Rand Paul.

Following an off-the-record meeting last week between Romney and Sen. Paul (R-KY), the rumor mill quickly began turning with talk of a GOP ticket staring the two this November. Many of the ideas honored by Paul, however, are identical to topics that has made his father, Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas), so feared by the Republican Party establishment. Although electing Sen. Paul as a running mate under Romney could potentially open up the ticket among a broader spectrum of GOP voters, it does not ring true with the agenda already outlined by the Bilderberg Group.

The meeting of the Bilderberg Group is believed to annually bring together some of the world’s biggest names in finance and politics to decide on matters that will impact the world in the months and years to come. It is believed by many that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair was handpicked by the Bilderberg Group before being elected and that, at the 2008 conference, then Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was asked to exit the race so that the left could throw their weight behind Barack Obama to face off against the Republican Party candidate in that year’s election.

Should a Romney/Rand Paul ticket had been agreed on, reports Infowar’s Paul Joseph Watson, the possible VP’s “constitutionalist stance [could] act to derail the agenda for increased centralization of power into a system of global governance.”

Earlier in the election season, some pundits predicted that Rand Paul could bring ideas to the Republican Party ticket that, although shared with his strict libertarian father, would not be viewed as extreme by the GOP establishment.

"Rand Paul has softer edges than his dad," Cato Institute Executive Vice President David Boaz tells National Public Radio. "That helped him get elected to the Senate."

But although Sen. Paul may not be as considered as much of a threat to the Republican Party as his father — who is still currently in the race for the GOP nomination — Infowars speculates that his ideologies and relationship with his father are enough to scare undecided voters away from Romney this race.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida) is also rumored to be among the party’s top choices for a running mate under Romney.

    The Billion-Dollar Mitt Machine

POSTED: May 30, 1:45 PM ET

    Charles and David Koch
    John Chiasson/Liaison; Robin Platzer/FilmMagic

In my latest Rolling Stone piece I profile the 16 mega-rich donors who've ponied up at least $1 million each for the SuperPAC backing Mitt Romney. But even those giant checks may soon look like chump change, according to a new report in Politico.

Led by the billionaire Koch Brothers, forces allied with the GOP are now planning to spend a record-shattering $1 billion to put Romney in the White House.

The biggest news is that the Kochtopus — the shadowy network of political advocacy groups funded by industrialists Charles and David Koch — is alone planning to spend $395 million to defeat Obama. Take a second to let that sink in with the help of a tweet from former George W. Bush consultant Mark McKinnon this morning:

"Think the $$ political system is screwed up? Koch brothers alone are planning to spend more $$ than McCain's entire 2008 presidential budget."
The Koch money — twice what the billionaire brothers had previously committed — will dwarf even the $300 million the American Crossroads network controlled by ex-Bushies Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie expects to spend.

The Romney-linked SuperPAC, Restore our Future, which raised $50 million for the primary says it now expects to spend another $100 million before election day.

Other megadollar players backing Mitt, according to Politico?
    • U.S. Chamber of Commerce: $100 million
    • YG Network (Eric Cantor's SuperPAC): $30 million
    • American Action Network (led by former GOP Senator Norm Coleman): $30 million
    • Freedom Works (Dick Armey's group that helped launch the Tea Party): $30 million

The spending seems sure to outpace the money raised by President Obama's SuperPAC — which hopes to raise just $100 million — and Big Labor, whose budget may be as small as $200 million.

The Big Money gap puts tremendous pressure on the Obama campaign to maximize returns from its vast network of small-dollar donors. And it makes even more pivotal the president's most powerful weapon, the intricate network of on-the-ground volunteer organizers the campaign has built out in the electoral battleground.

Ron Paul On Indefinite Detention: The Tyranny Continues

    - On Indefinite Detention: The Tyranny Continues (Congressman Ron Paul):

The bad news from last week’s passage of the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act is that Americans can still be arrested on US soil and detained indefinitely without trial. Some of my colleagues would like us to believe that they fixed last year’s infamous Sections 1021 and 1022 of the NDAA, which codified into law the unconstitutional notion that some Americans are not subject to the protections of the Constitution. However, nothing in this year’s bill or amendments to the bill restored those constitutional rights.

Supporters of the one amendment that passed on this matter were hoping no one would notice that it did absolutely nothing. The amendment essentially stated that those entitled to habeas corpus protections are hereby granted habeas corpus protections. Thanks for nothing!

As Steve Vladeck, of American University’s law school, wrote of this amendment:

“[T]he Gohmert Amendment does nothing whatsoever to address the central objections…. [I]t merely provides by statute a remedy that is already available to individuals detained within the United States; and says nothing about the circumstances in which individuals might actually be subject to military detention when arrested within the territory of United States…. Anyone within the United States who was subject to military detention before the FY2013 NDAA would be subject to it afterwards, as well…”

Actually, the amendment in question makes matters worse, as it states that anyone detained on US soil has the right to file a writ of habeas corpus “within 30 days” of arrest. In fact, persons detained on US soil already have the right to file a habeas petition immediately upon arrest!

I co-sponsored an amendment offered by Reps. Adam Smith and Justin Amash that would have repealed the unconstitutional provisions of last year’s NDAA by eliminating Section 1022 on mandatory military detention and modifying Section 1021 to make it absolutely clear that no one can be apprehended on US soil and held indefinitely without trial or be held subject to a military tribunal. Our language was clear: “No person detained, captured, or arrested in the United States, or a territory or possession of the United States, may be transferred to the custody of the Armed Forces for detention under the Authorization for Use of Military Force, this Act, or the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013.”

The term “person” is key in our amendment, as our Founders did not make a distinction between citizens and non-citizens when determining who was entitled to Constitutional protections. As the father of the Constitution James Madison wrote, “[I]t does not follow, because aliens are not parties to the Constitution, as citizens are parties to it, that whilst they actually conform to it, they have no right to its protection.”

We should not forget that our Article III court system is a strength not a weakness. The right to face our accuser, the protections against hearsay evidence, the right to a jury trial – these are designed to protect the innocent and to determine and then punish guilt. And they have been quite successful thus far. Currently there are more than 300 individuals who have been tried and convicted of terrorism-related charges serving lengthy terms in US federal prisons. Each of the six individuals tried in US civilian courts for the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center are serving hundreds of years in prison, for example.

Last week was discouraging and disappointing to those of us who value our Constitution. That the US government asserts the legal authority to pick up Americans within the United States and hold them indefinitely and secretly without a trial should be incredibly disturbing to all of us. Americans should check how their representative voted. Politicians should not be allowed to get away with undermining our liberties in this manner.
