DP Original
Hello Patriots.
We are a RV of 7 Delegates and Alternates for liberty from Arizona. Our RV has a cracked head, it's a big job to repair, we do not think it's feasible to do so at this time? We are looking for another RV to rent or some way to get to Tampa. If any one has an RV to rent us we'd love to get to Tampa and vote for Dr. Paul!

Why Sarah Palin wants a ‘brokered convention’
Posted by Rachel Weiner at 11:20 AM ET, 02/16/2012 TheWashingtonPost
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said it could happen. The tea party group FreedomWorks is polling on it. And conservative pundits are pushing for one.Link to article here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/post/why-sarah-p...
Now former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is saying she would 'help' in with a brokered convention.
'We could be looking at a brokered convention,' she told Fox Business Network on Wednesday night. 'Months from now, if that’s the case, all bets are off as to who it will be, willing to offer up themselves up in their name in service to their country. I would do whatever I could to help.'

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) -
A Chesterfield Marine will be released from a mental health facility after a judge ruled there wasn't sufficient evidence of allegations made against him.
Brandon Raub was committed to a mental health facility for 30 days after a series of events, including questions about his Facebook page. Now, the Rutherford Institute has taken up his cause.
In court Thursday, the judge said that the petition filed by Chesterfield Police was blank and didn't list a single allegation against him. The judge said Raub suffered a "deprivation of his liberty" by being held without a clear claim.

Mass Arrests Planned For Tampa? ABC: Orient Road Jail Cleared Out To Handle RNC Arrests
Submitted by Cirocco on Thu, 08/23/2012 - 09:47
Daily Paul Liberty Forum
This is from mainstream media, so take that for what it's worth and PLEASE be careful.
ABC News: - TAMPA - A big factor during the RNC is the potential for a large number of arrests. In anticipation, in an unprecedented move, Hillsborough County jail officials announced one facility is completely cleared and essentially reconstructed just for the Republican National Convention.
The man in charge, Colonel Jim Previtera, took charge as he walked us through the Orient Road Jail. The colonel began in the carport, where, he said, "The inmates will be unloaded, they will be searched and walked through a metal detector which has been added for this event."
The entire facility has been transformed. At around noon Wednesday, the last of the inmates, excluding a dozen or so trustees prepared to handle cooking and cleaning duties, were moved out to nearby Falkenburg Road Jail. Anyone arrested during the RNC will be brought to Orient Road Jail.

Bain Documents Released By Gawker
Posted: 08/23/2012 12:54 pm Updated:
08/23/2012 1:18 pm
The website Gawker published online hundreds of pages of documents from Mitt Romney's tenure at Bain Capital on Thursday. Romney's work at the firm, as well as statements he's made on the issue, have come under scrutiny over the course of the presidential campaign.
John Cook at Gawker reports on one of the revelations from the files released:
Romney has long claimed, despite evidence to the contrary, that he retired from Bain Capital in 1999. The Bain documents we obtained indicate that his involvement with the company extended years past that date.Romney indicated in a financial disclosure form that he "retired" from Bain on Feb. 11, 1999. Gawker reports, however, that the presidential candidate had a stake in Sankaty Credit Opportunities, which was not created until 2002.

Liberty Alert: Romney Picked The Wrong Paul
Ryan Not A Real Libertarian
August 22, 2012 by John Myers
UPIMitt Romney picked Paul Ryan to be his running mate.
Presumed Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney tagged a man named Paul for Vice President. There’s just one problem: He picked Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), not Ron Paul (R-Texas). The latter is a real libertarian, while the former is a big-government conservative.
Jane Aitken, founder of the New Hampshire Tea Party Coalition, wrote an opinion piece for Bedford Patch. The headline read: “Paul Ryan is no Ron Paul.”
The Daily Caller also weighed in last week: “It didn’t take long for libertarians to condemn Mitt Romney’s selection of Paul Ryan as his running mate. Ryan may have required his staffers to read Ayn Rand’s novels, but he’s no John Galt (a fictional character in Ayn Rand’s novel Atlas Shrugged). Over his nearly 14 years in Congress, Ryan has cast several votes unfit for an advocate of limited government. He voted for TARP, auto bailouts, and Medicare expansion. He also voted for No Child Left Behind and twice voted for stimulus spending.”
Paul cannot be excited about Romney tagging Ryan for the VP spot. In an interview given to Fox News last March, Paul called Ryan’s budget proposals timid and said that Ryan did not address the Federal government’s propensity for warmongering. Paul said he didn’t like that the Ryan plan might balance the budget in 30 years and did nothing to address America’s vast overseas military presence. Paul said instead of the Ryan plan he would slash overseas spending by first stopping “militarism” while maintaining spending for national defense.
As reported by Huffington Post, Paul said:
In my program… I address that first [cutting overseas military spending] I want to get home so that you don’t have to attack child health care or Medicare, even though those programs are bankrupt and you have to deal with them. But even in my first year of cutting a trillion dollars, I don’t touch that stuff [child health care or Medicare].Yet Ryan is likely a smart pick for Romney in that his nomination as Vice President will help Romney win the Presidency because it will garner votes from Tea Party supporters. That doesn’t mean that Ryan is anything other than a pretend libertarian. And he certainly isn’t alone in that category.
I’m not going after the benefits the Medicare, I’m not doing that initially… I would cut the money that they are screaming about, this overseas militarism.
I see people coming together… 67 percent people now want to come home from Afghanistan… I think the Republican lose the political argument immediately. [The Republican plan is] We want more weapons but we are going to deny the elderly for their healthcare.
In his book Fed Up!, Texas Governor Rick Perry wrote: “If you don’t support the death penalty and citizens packing a pistol, don’t come to Texas. If you don’t like medicinal marijuana and gay marriage, don’t move to California.”
While Perry was running for the Presidency, a Des Moines Register reporter asked the former Texas A&M yell leader: “What yell would you give to urge on your campaign?”
Perry replied: “Rick Perry. Liberty. Rick Perry. Freedom. Freedom is working. Liberty is working. We’ve got to get America working again.”
I wondered: what does it mean to be free? I looked up the definition of “libertarian.” The Free Dictionary defines the word as: “One who advocates maximizing individual rights and minimizing the role of the state. One who believes in free will.”
Perry doesn’t have a clue what it means to be free. Freedom — and here is the key caveat — is doing what you want as long as you are not hurting another individual.
Let me say it straight: If my neighbor on one side is in a gay union and the neighbor on the other side smokes grass (and if is not hurting me or anyone else), why can’t they? That’s how I look at it; I am a true libertarian.
Perry dresses up in libertarian clothes, pretends to embrace individual freedoms and then at the first instance (when he doesn’t like what he sees) demands government intervention. That is not liberty my friends, that is pretend liberty and something very dangerous to the state of the union.
Romney may pretend to embrace smaller government and less taxation, but his track record as Governor of Massachusetts doesn’t support his argument. Nor does his businessman-first-and-foremost argument carry a lot of truth. As then-GOP hopeful Newt Gingrich pointed out to Romney during one of the GOP Presidential debates: “The only reason you didn’t become a career politician is because you lost to Teddy Kennedy in 1994.”
None of this makes the Romney/Ryan ticket less desirable than the alternative: another four loathsome years of Obama/Biden. It does, however, mean that this election isn’t going to give the sweeping changes that libertarians were hoping would come out of the grassroots Tea Party movement.
Barack Obama fashions himself an old-style Democrat, the likes of President John Kennedy. But what Kennedy wanted for the Nation half a century ago was affordable then. As the upsurge in Federal debt shows, it simply is not possible now.
If Obama looks to the Kennedy era, expect Romney to be a replay not of President Ronald Reagan, but his successor, President George H.W. Bush. That will mean continued excessive military spending and interventions overseas. It will mean continued large deficits.
Led by Romney/Ryan, the country may be 20 percent to 30 percent improved over what will happen if the Obama/Biden team is re-elected. But that won’t be a renaissance for America, and the end result will fall far short of making libertarians happy.
Finally and perhaps most importantly, while a Romney/Ryan victory is in the cards, I don’t think it will resuscitate the U.S. dollar. That inevitably means a continued deterioration in the greenback’s purchasing power — something you should consider before you buy any U.S. paper and before you sell any precious metals you have accumulated.
Yours in good times and bad,
–John Myers

Palin For President
August 23, 2012 by Bryan Nash
UPI FILEA grassroots movement hopes to put Sarah Palin in the White House.
Sarah Palin won’t be on the ballot in November, but that isn’t stopping the Alaskan’s advocates from supporting her for President. A group called The Earthquake Movement wants Palin in the White House.
The pro-Palin group does not support Presidential nominee Mitt Romney, and it is upset that Palin was not given a speaking slot at the upcoming Republican convention.
“We are finding a lot of unhappy Republican voters,” the group said in a statement. “They feel like the RNC is not listening to them, and based on voter turnout in the primaries and what we are hearing from conservative Americans, they want her to emerge from the convention as the nominee.”
The Earthquake Movement has placed billboards in Wisconsin and attempted to contact delegates from all over the country.
But some Republicans, especially those in Wisconsin, a State that largely supports Paul Ryan, think The Earthquake Movement is wasting its time.
“I think the signs they’ve put up in the Dells clearly show they don’t understand the process,” said Sauk County Republican Party Chairman Tim McCumber. “We had a primary here. Wisconsin voters, in an open primary, came in and selected our candidate. Our delegates will go down, under our rules, and vote for that candidate.”

Government Uses The Age-Old Bully’s Trick: Pretending the Victim Is the Attacker … and the Bully is Merely Defending Himself
Posted on August 22, 2012 by WashingtonsBlog
The Bully Will Keep On Getting Away With Harassing Others Until People Stop Falling For His Victim Act
Police have recently stated on the record that:
- Resisting police desires may be labeled “violence” … even if the police desires are unlawful
- Curling up in a ball to avoid police violence may be considered “active resistance” … justifying the use of more force, including baton strikes
Indeed, in modern America, even being worried that the government is acting in a bullying manner can literally get one arrested, committed to a psychiatric ward or labeled as a terrorist.
(Of course, if you speak out too much against the government, even worse things could happen to you.)
In other words, the government is using the age-old bully’s trick: pretending that the victim is the attacker, and the bully is merely defending himself.
The same is true in terms of our foreign policy. For example, when we accidentally kill foreigners, we pretend that they were armed or pretend that they were “militants”.
The government invaded Iraq because it claims Saddam had weapons of mass destruction and that he had a hand in 9/11 … but everyone knew that both claims were false.
The bully claims that “9/11 changed everything”, that we live in a “post -9/11 world” and that the Constitution is no longer realistic after 9/11. But the fact is that spying on Americans, the militarization of police, and the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and throughout the Middle East and North Africa were all planned before 9/11.
And the bully’s pretense of victimhood goes even further …
Just as the murderers you’ve seen on tv will sometimes hit themselves with something to make it look like they were the one attacked, governments often attack themselves in order to drum up sympathy and a “justification” for “defending” themselves. See this.
The bully will keep on getting away with harassing others until people stop falling for his victim act.
Postscript: This is not a problem of one party or the other. As Owen Jones notes today in the Telegraph:
Getting rid of Dubya wasn’t enough. The US remains a bully.Bush was a frontman for the bullies … just like Obama:
The issue isn’t Obama, any more than it was Bush before him. The issue is [the abuse of] US power.
