Voters in Maine, Mississippi and Washington will decide election-reform questions this November, joining a wave of 36 states that in 2011 moved to increase identification requirements, limit the early-voting period, or toughen up registration rules.

“We’ve been seeing quite a lot of legislation to strengthen voter identification laws and create voter identification laws where they don’t exist,â€

Voter Fraud Allegations Hit San Francisco Mayor’s Race
    By Eric Shawn
    Published October 25, 2011
    | FoxNews.com

Shocking voter fraud allegations are rocking the mayor's race in San Francisco. District Attorney George Gascon has launched an investigation and demands are growing for federal authorities to move in.

One campaign official fears the election could be stolen if nothing is done.
Supporters of incumbent Mayor Ed Lee, who is running for a full four-year term next month, are accused of illegally handling vote-by-mail ballots.
Witnesses say workers for the group, SF Neighbor Alliance, set up a makeshift sidewalk voting site in the city's Chinatown and accuse it of illegally casting absentee ballots for elderly Chinese voters.

The witnesses claim cell-phone videos show workers telling voters to vote for Lee, filling out ballots for the voters and even using a stencil to hide the names of rival candidates so the voters could only chose one -- Lee.
They also say that the completed ballots were stuffed in plastic bags, which is prohibited by state election law.

"At first we thought they were just helping them understand what absentee ballots were," witness Malana Moberg told Fox News, saying that she saw a worker filling out a voter's ballot.

But she said, "It was pretty blatant."

"I noticed that someone who was working at that booth, who had an Ed Lee shirt on, fill in an absentee ballot on behalf of the voter, and I was immediately shocked and couldn't believe that someone would actually fill in the ballot. I thought it was probably illegal, and if not at the very least, unethical," Moberg said, adding that "someone filling out a ballot for somebody else seemed completely inappropriate."

One of videos was shot by Adam Keigwin, a campaign official for State Sen. Leland Yee, one of Lee's opponents.

"Individuals were marking ballots for elderly voters. They would literally mark the ballot, seal it, and put it in bags behind them. There are so many violations there, almost too numerous to mention," he said.
Keigwin told us the alleged ballot stuffing happened right out in the open, for anyone to see.

"It is about our democracy and whether we are going to protect the integrity of the vote. I saw hundreds of voters come and drop off their ballots and have them filled out or being filled out with a stencil," he told Fox News. "That was just in a 45-minute period and that's just one incident that's happening. What else is happening out there? It's certainly potentially, in a very close election like what we're expecting on November 8th, this could end up being an election that is stolen."

In an unprecedented move, seven of Lee's opponents -- from the president of the city's Board of Supervisors to the city attorney -- jointly signed a letter demanding a federal investigation and the deployment of election monitors.

    Initiative 27 Targets Voter Fraud

Tuesday Ballot To Include Voter ID Proposal
    November 4, 2011
JACKSON, miss. -- There is a movement across the nation to prevent voter fraud. Here in Mississippi, it's called Initiative 27.
The issue, which residents will consider during Tuesday's election, would require voters show identification at the polls before they are allowed to cast ballots.

    Nov. 8 Ballot Initiatives
The initiative is dividing voters. Some are pushing to get it passed and others have rallied for its defeat.

Jimmy Cooley said he plans to vote on Tuesday, but he doesn't have an ID to show. Cooley said he's out of work and down on his luck.
"I am having a problem getting my ID because of money and the economy," Cooley said. "I don't have the money to try to get another ID made."

State Sen. Joseph Fillingane, who is behind Initiative 27, said that's a problem.

"People are cheating. People are cheating in elections," Fillingane said.
If Initiative 27 passes, voters would be required to show a government-issued ID before they step up to the voting machine.
Cooley said he's against the initiative.

"You're denying someone the right to vote because of ID, and that's not good," Cooley said.

Fillingane said Initiative 27 will clean up Mississippi's elections process.
"We have a bad history of voting fraud and dead people voting and sick people in the hospital in a different county voting on Election Day," Fillingane said.

Cases of voter fraud have been found in at least four Mississippi counties. The problem is nationwide. a study done by the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law found 37 states are tightening restrictions to curb voter fraud by requiring proof of citizenship or a government issued ID.

"We do have a problem with voter fraud in Mississippi and around the country," said Bear Atwood, the legal director for American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi. "Any voter fraud there might be, the ID is not going to fix that."

Atwood and the ACLU are fighting against the initiative.
"It really, truly would suppress the vote," Atwood said.

Researchers found that requiring voters to show ID would prevent 5 million Americans from casting ballots, and 25 percent of blacks would not be able to vote.

"It will impact poor white people, rural people, elderly people -- it's not just an impact on black people," Atwood said.

"It's not targeting anybody," Fillingane said. "It's targeting dead people voting in our elections, and we don't want that to happen."

Initiative 27 gives provisions for the poor. If a voter can't afford to buy a government ID, one will be given to them free of charge.

According to the Mississippi Legislative Department, Initiative 27 would cost taxpayers $1.5 million a year to implement. Supporters said the cost is worth it to protect the integrity of the vote.

Voter fraud report to be released
Investigation on dead people names on voter rolls

Updated: Thursday, 10 Nov 2011, 7:22 AM MST
    Published : Thursday, 10 Nov 2011, 7:22 AM MST

    David Romero
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The New Mexico Secretary of State's Office says the final report on the investigation concerning voter fraud in the state should be released Thursday morning. One of the major focuses of the investigation will look into how 641 names of dead people ended up in the voter registration rolls.

Secretary Dianna Duran stresses so far, there has not been any evidence of anyone using the names to submit fraudulent votes in any elections. Although, that is part of the investigation.

Some of the other widespread voting troubles in the state include foreign nationals showing up on the voter registration rolls. Duran's office said one of them had been voting since 1998.

Duran will also be asking some people to fill out new registration forms. To get further information on registering to vote, click on the link here www.sos.state.nm.us

This is some information I got from Jim DeMint for some reason I am on his email list..

    Fellow Conservatives:

Despite bipartisan promises to cut spending after the 2010 elections, Washington politicians are still voting to make the government even bigger and more expensive than ever.

    Don't believe me?

Even though the federal government is nearly $15 trillion in debt, it's spending at record-high levels. Federal spending has gone up 5 percent in the first nine months of this year alone.

Just two weeks ago, Democrats and Republicans in the Senate passed three new spending bills to increase 2012 funding above 2011 funding levels. The bills will increase spending for the Department of Agriculture by $6.4 billion; for the Departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development by more than $2 billion; and for the Commerce, Justice, and State departments by more than $694 million.

    This isn't austerity. It's gluttony.

All the talk of cutting spending after the 2010 elections has been just that: talk. The supposedly game-changing events of the past eleven months haven't changed much at all.

In the spring fight to avert a government shutdown, Republicans promised $100 billion in real cuts but then compromised for $38.5 billion in future savings. In reality, the Congressional Budget Office found the deal still resulted in an increase of more than $170 billion in federal spending from 2010 to 2011. The "largest spending cut in history" ended up being a spending increase.

Americans were then told the real spending cuts would come during the summer fight over the decision to raise the nation's debt ceiling. Conservatives pushed the Cut, Cap, and Balance plan to balance the budget within ten years in exchange for increasing the legal borrowing limit. Instead of doing that, however, Democratic and Republican leadership made a compromise deal to allow President Obama to increase our national debt to nearly $17 trillion, conditioned only on the creation of a supercommittee that would produce debt-reduction recommendations by the end of the year.

But the committee isn't really trying to cut spending. It seeks only to spend the country into bankruptcy a little slower. Rather than letting the country rack up $23.4 trillion of debt by 2021, the supercommittee hopes to keep it to $21.3 trillion. It's the difference between speeding off a cliff at 91 miles per hour versus 100 miles per hour.

One would think that, in the sub-AAA-rated America that's moving down a path dangerously similar to the one Greece is on, members of this supercommittee would be eagerly rooting out waste throughout our behemoth government. Not so. Reports indicate that the committee, which works in secret, has spent months debating how high they should raise taxes to lower the deficit.

While everyone is waiting for the supercommittee to unveil its grand plan, Congress continues to spend with abandon. Even modest proposals to make small cuts are rejected with overwhelming, bipartisan force.

Oklahoma Republican senator Tom Coburn offered an amendment two weeks ago to reduce funding for the Rural Development Agency (RDA) by $1 billion. A 2007 Washington Post investigation of the agency stated, "More than three decades after the program was created, USDA officials still don't know whether it works." The Congressional Research Service has found there are "more than 88 programs administered by 16 different federal agencies to target rural economic development." In recent years the RDA has used taxpayer money to make profligate loans to casinos, beach resorts, and water parks. Still, 85 Senators, consisting of every Democrat and many Republicans, opposed the cut to this wasteful spending. Only 13 senators, all Republicans, supported Coburn's amendment.

If the Senate can't bring itself to trim $1 billion from a duplicative program, how can it ever be expected to cut the trillions needed to balance the budget?

This isn't some isolated example of the Senate's misguided ways. Even though easy credit fueled the housing bubble and subsequent bust, eight Republicans recently joined 52 Democrats to pass an amendment sponsored by New Jersey Democrat Robert Menendez to raise the maximum size of federally subsidized loans to $729,750, pushing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to back mortgages far above average home prices. It's as if 60 U.S. senators learned nothing from the market crash and have no idea Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are in constant need of bailouts from the Treasury Department.

Certainly, some Republicans have gotten the message, but anyone who watches what Congress is doing now can see that not nearly enough have. The 2010 election was a big step in the right direction. Hopefully, Americans will finish the job in 2012.

Until then, please contact the Republican senators and urge them to demand a year-long "continuing resolution" that freezes discretionary spending at last year's level.

    NEBRASKA UPDATE

I also want to pass along some good news on the U.S. Senate race in Nebraska.

We've now raised over $90,000 to help conservative Don Stenberg defeat U.S. Senator Ben Nelson in Nebraska. There are just a few hours left before our November 15th deadline. Please help us raise another $10,000 today so we can reach our goal before midnight.

Your support will help elect a true conservative and defeat the senator who cast the 60th vote for ObamaCare and was the author of the Cornhusker Kickback.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Together, we can strengthen the U.S. Senate and take our country back.

    Respectfully,

    Jim DeMint
    United States Senator
    Chairman, Senate Conservatives Fund
