An immigration enforcement activist is encouraged by the news that one "sanctuary city" has decided not to challenge President Trump.
For years, Miami-Dade County has refused to detain some illegal aliens in its jails for federal immigration agents. But now that President Donald Trump has signed an executive order threatening to withhold federal funding from sanctuary cities, Mayor Carlos Gimenez (R) has changed his mind.
According to USA Today, the order directs the Department of Homeland Security to publish illegals' crimes every week, including any who were in custody but released by the local sanctuary city police departments. The departments of Justice and Homeland Security are also directed to identify federal grants that can be withheld from sanctuary cities that continue their practices.
So Mayor Gimenez has ordered his employees to begin working more closely with federal immigration authorities, and he admits he made the decision to ensure that the county does not lose out on $355 million in federal funding it has coming in 2017.

William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration (ALIPAC), is pleased with this victory for the president in his first week in office.
"All it takes is one leader or one strong person in Congress, or the presidency especially, to start saying, 'No, we're going to be under the constitutional rule of law here in the United States,'" Gheen submits. "And a lot of that just evaporates because it was being created. Illegal immigration hasn't been happening because of some neglect; it hasn't been happening because of mistakes, or accidents, or loopholes in the law. Illegal immigration has been happening because the highest tiers of our government have been compromised and have actually been facilitating the invasion of our homeland."
While he is glad to see this victory in South Florida, Gheen points out that illegal aliens have gravitated to more than 300 identified sanctuary cities throughout the country.
