Arizona voters go to the polls today to select a Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate, and an immigration watchdog says the fix is in to stop the conservative candidate on that ballot.
Americans for Legal Immigration PAC endorsed Kelli Ward (pictured at left), who has been trailing U.S. Rep. Martha McSally (pictured below) by double digits thanks in part to the surprise entry of Joe Arpaio, the former Maricopa County sheriff who is expected to peel votes away from Ward.

William Gheen, who is president of ALIPAC, says Ward is fighting a political machine set up to stop her nomination to the point of wooing Arpaio to enter the race and play the role of vote spoiler.
"We think the whole system is being designed to stop her," Gheen says of Ward. "She's the one that the D.C. insiders don't want."
The primary is being overshadowed by the death of Sen. John McCain, who defeated Ward in a primary in 2016.
"Any McCain loyalists, they're going to be McSally anyway," says Gheen. "So I really don't think she's going to lose a lot there."
Democratic voters are expected to nominate Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema.
