Immigration group that rescinded Donald Trump endorsement, endorses Mo Brooks

Alabama 5th District U.S. Rep. and GOP Senate hopeful Mo Brooks has been endorsed by the Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC).

ALIPAC is committed to stopping and reversing illegal immigration to the United States, and opposes any amnesty, visa expansion, “Guest Worker” program, or immigration reform amnesty designed to “reward” illegal aliens or legalize their presence in the U.S. They’re hoping Brooks will follow in former Alabama U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions‘ footsteps and be a strong voice against illegal immigration in the U.S. Senate.

“It is vital to the effort to save America from this socialist backed illegal immigration overthrow of our elections and republic that we elect a very strong voice that supports our existing immigration laws instead of amnesty. Mo Brooks clearly has the strongest record against illegal immigration,” explained William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. “We have supported Senator Sessions because he was often a lone voice of reason in the US Senate standing against the Gang of Eight Amnesty legislation that betrayed American workers and taxpayers.”

But whether or not the endorsement sticks longterm, remains to be seen. ALIPAC is the same group that enthusiastically endorsed Donald Trump in February 2016 ahead of the election, only to rescind their support in May 2017, saying Trump has “made it clear he cannot be trusted on his most powerful campaign issue of stopping illegal immigration and amnesty.”

“It’s clear that we’ve been betrayed on the issues that gave him his greatest power to defeat his primary opponents and Hillary Clinton, which are the promises to end DACA amnesty and dangerous refugee resettlement programs,” Gheen told Newsweek.


Nevertheless Brooks, who has consistently received the highest rating in Congress from NumbersUSA on border security issues for his fight to stop illegal immigration, remains resolute in his fight against illegal immigration.

“America has an historic opportunity to finally put an end to illegal immigration and secure America’s southern border,” Brooks said in a news release announcing the endorsement. “In the Senate, I will work tirelessly with border security groups like Americans for Legal Immigration to fight open-borders special interests that profit from importing cheap foreign labor that suppresses wages of and take jobs from American workers. With American families struggling to make ends meet, America’s immigration policies must put American workers first.”
