Americans for Legal Immigration PAC is launching a new tactic this morning designed to stop US Senator Harry Reid's (D-NV) attempt to pass a form of Amnesty for illegal immigrants by inserting the Dream Act provision into the defense authorization legislation scheduled for a vote on Tuesday September 21rst at 2:15PM.
"We call on the Senate to stop Reid and Obama's surprise attack Amnesty," said William Gheen President of ALIPAC. "This Nightmare Act is opposed by a strong majority of Americans and passage of Amnesty using dirty legislative tricks to attach it to defense spending will be strongly rebuked by Americans on November 2nd!"
While advocates of the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act ramp up calls and emails to the US Senate in Washington using multimillion dollar resources provided by corporations, foundations, and US taxpayers, ALIPAC's AMNESTY OPPONENTS will take this fight directly to the US Senate campaigns across America today.
"We are directing our activists against amnesty to contact every US Senate campaign in America today to determine which candidates oppose or support Obama and Reid's Dream Act Amnesty amendment," said William Gheen. "We intend to track which Senate candidates support or oppose this Amnesty attempt and remind them all that voters will defeat any candidate unwise enough to support this Amnesty ambush!"
Rasmussen polling determined in 2007 that voters oppose the Dream Act Amnesty by 59% vs. 22%. Parallel polling also indicated that support for versions of Amnesty was much softer than the intense opposition to Amnesty. Many Americans fervently oppose illegal immigration and any form of Amnesty for illegal immigrants because they are aware of the detrimental impact both have on American citizens and the health of America as a nation.
As ALIPAC's activists place thousands of calls into US Senate campaign offices, the ALIPAC organization will track the status of each US Senate candidate and prepare to deliver candidate positions to state level media and directly to voters using robotic calls, online advertising, and other methods.
"We are going to make it very clear to candidates for US Senate that voters will know how they intend to vote and how they do vote on this Amnesty move," said William Gheen.
ALIPAC believes that a strategy of pulling the Dream Act legislative issue into the campaign arena will help to defeat the measure since most campaigns will realize that the three to one opposition to this legislation will have a devastating effect on any candidate caught supporting illegal immigrants at a time when illegal immigration is one of the top campaign issues in America.
While Senator Harry Reid may believe that pandering to foreign nationals who are supposed to be prohibited by federal law from voting in US elections is a good idea; ALIPAC believes many other candidates will disagree when confronted with how their voters truly feel about the Dream Act.
ALIPAC has helped defeat Dream Act legislation and related Amnesty legislation several times over the last few years. For more information or to track which US Senate campaigns are being identified supporting or opposing Dream Act, please visit www.alipac.us
