I already know who Mike Huckabee is since he said those of us that opposed the Comprehensive Immigration Reform amnesty bills are "driven by racism or nativism"
He was one of only two GOP Candidates at the Univision debates that promised a "path to citizenship" for the illegal aliens.
Why don't you contact them Mason and ask them how fast the illegal aliens will be able to cross back into American territory.
Then you look at every enforcement promise Huckabee is making and ask if any of those provisions would then apply to the former illegal aliens and the answer is NO.
This is not a case of us being picky about small details.
This Huckabee thing is a 1st class Open Borders Lobby con job and if we don't put a stop to it we are screwed and the public will be told they can pick a Dem or Rep and the AMNESTY will still happen.

Mason:
You have a point in saying : "Without the conservative Christian right, a Republican will not be elected. Face it, the only way to stop the open door is with a GOP president (GW Bush excluded)."
But that is just the point. I liken Huckabee to George Bush. To me they are both big business Republicans pandering to special interests. And 4 more years of another Bush-like President is something that will wipe the economy of America off this map. Terrorists know our Southern border is open also, just like the rest of the world. They also know that we throw our own US border guards in solitary for shooting at agents out to destroy us.
The conservative Christian right is presently grabbing at straws, and I don't blame them, but they will soon be forced to come down to earth. They know that it takes Independents to win an election and Huckabee is not electable because the more you know about him and his past actions the more you shrink away in disgust.
Wasn't it the conservative christian right who put Bush in and isn't it the conservative christian right who now regrets this as much as anyone else?
In a way, I wish Tancredo would run as an independent, except that that risks fracturing the Republican party right in two and then nobody wins except either Hilary or Obama. It is only through such fracture, in fact that the Republicans will loose.
Mitt Romney is an intelligent, clean man, who aside from Tancredo is as honest as you will get. Lou Dobbs is probably better than the lot of them, but will not run. Romney, a galvanizing man, will win and moreover Romney will be the only candidate that can defeat Hilary (or Obama) in 2008. Romney will be a Democratic nightmare, Huckabee a Democratic dream.
William and I don't have a horse in this race.
Pat Robertson supports former Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Jim Gilchrist supports Gov. Mike Huckabee.
William and I don't have a horse in this race.
If I believed in the Global Warming religion (which I oppose), I would be looking for real estate on the Antarctic Peninsula around Jan., 2009. I think I could learn to like an all-fish diet, plus some home-grown vegetables.
God save these United States.

Yup, the Dems would much rather run against Huckabee than Romney.

“The Arkansas consulate, Mexico’s 47th in North America, reflects the growing Mexican immigrant population in the South. Little Rock was chosen not because of its own Mexican population, but because it’s a central location for immigrants from throughout the region who need passports, legal aid and other services.
Supporters also say the consulate, would benefit Americans. Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee pushed hard for the consulate to locate in Little Rock, saying it would help area businesses strike international deals.
Memphis is currently in the district of the Mexican consulate in Atlanta, nearly 400 miles away. By contrast, about 140 miles separate Memphis and Little Rock.â€

This is absolutely right. Notice how quiet the Democratic strategists are right now on Huckabee. The love him as an opponent. They aren't blasting him. That is a sure sign he thinks more like them and is beatable.
Again, Tancredo is the best. But can he win as a Republican?
No Illegals:
Your point is well taken. But there is something else I left out. During one of the Republican debates when it was Tom's turn to field a question, he answered it truthfully and well. Then the camera panned to the audience and I was shocked to see only a handful of people clapping. The rest seemed against him, though I thought Tom was brilliant.
So your Republicans are the ones that are making this mission impossible, and I called his campaign headquarters and suggested he run as an Independent. It is only because I felt so strongly about him that I did so, because as I mentioned in an earlier post, if Tancredo ran as an independent it would split the Republican party in two and the only one who whould benefit is Hilary or Obama.............and that would be catastrophic.
Look, like you say, there's a year to work on it. I was just trying to be realistic. Tom Tancredo would solve our problems and he would solve them real fast............the question is........can he win.........say against Hilary. On the other hand, there is no more charasmatic candidate in this race then Romney. I cannot remember a more charasmatic personality since Kennedy. I believe that he could win against the Dems and win with space to boot.

They are not my Republicans, they are the Republicans. I claim no party. I just want the borders secured.
