ALIPAC seeking two mystery donors that sent money orders

    Friends of ALIPAC,

Please forgive this clerical request, but we need to ask for assistance.

During the preparation of our most recent reports to the Federal Elections Commission, we discovered that we either did not receive or misplaced the donor information associated with two contributions made by money order.

We have until February 20 to determine who sent in these contributions, or we must donate them to a charity.

Please contact us with your name, phone number, and e-mail so our Treasurer Jane Patterson can follow-up with you, if you are a donor who mailed us one or both of these money orders prepared by Citibank.

Citibank Money Order for $180 drawn July 24, 2009

    and/or

Citibank Money Order for $300 drawn October 29, 2009

We only have until the 20th to locate the donors who sent these donations in because they must be refunded or donated to a charity.

If you sent ALIPAC one or both of these money orders please contact Jane Patterson at Funds@alipac.us or William Gheen at WilliamG@alipac.us. Please include your full name and phone number so we can amend our records and reports.

We greatly appreciate all of our financial supporters and we ask everyone to remember we prefer that you do not send cash donations due to the limitations and restrictions on accepting cash contributions. Checks and money orders in excess of $50 must be accompanied by name, address of the donor and phone number, since anonymous contributions are limited to $50 or less. In addition to name and address, we are also required to request and make our Best Efforts to determine the occupation and employer of our donors who contribute more than $200 in a year, but our donors are not required to submit that information and may 'decline'. We also cannot accept donations from corporations, foreign nationals, labor organizations or people under 18 years of age.

Donations to ALIPAC are not tax deductible because we are a 527 corporation Political Action Committee.

Donating to ALIPAC is the same as donating to a campaign for Congress or U.S. Senate. We chose this structure for our organization because of the financial transparency and because of the freedom we have to endorse and support federal candidates.

Every penny ALIPAC has ever spent is a matter of public record at www.Fec.gov

We have a very strict privacy policy at ALIPAC and we never share your e-mails or information except where we are required to by law.

We hope to hear from the two donors responsible for sending these money orders soon so we can keep the funds with ALIPAC, instead of donating them.

Have you found the donors yet?! I sure hope they check in so ALIPAC can keep the contributions so desperately needed. But in the event they don't make contact in time, here's an idea for donation to charity:

    https://www.numbersusa.com/donate

"*NumbersUSA Education and Research Foundation is recognized by Independent Charities of America as one of the top 3% of well-run charities. When you donate, you can be sure that the money is used responsibly. Meets all 20 BBB Charity Standards."

Just a thought. That way the people who gave would at least have contribution to the issue, just not in the way they intended.

That must be very frustrating, William, to have 2 nice contributions and not be able to use them for the purpose the donors intended.
