ALPAC's Press Release and Message to New Jersey Lawmakers

ALIPAC's Official Message to New Jersey Lawmakers

Honorable members of the New Jersey Legislature:

I am writing today to implore you to oppose the in-state tuition bills for illegal aliens numbered A194 & S1036!

A JWP Civitas Poll conducted in North Carolina in 2006 found that 81% of voters were less likely to support any lawmaker supporting legislation that gives in-state tuition to illegal aliens. A poll conducted in New Jersey by Gannett in March of 2009 found only 20% of New Jersey residents support a plan that involves in-state tuition for illegal aliens.

Outgoing N.J. Governor Jon Corzine lost his race to a candidate who opposes this measure and many New Jersey citizens voted against Corzine over this very issue. Why then, is the New Jersey legislature rushing to pass this unpopular legislation before Corzine leaves?

Are you aware of how the New Jersey public and people across America are going to react to this betrayal of public trust?

In-state tuition for illegal aliens has been defeated in more than 20 state legislative battles in the last five years. Lawmakers slipped it through in Nebraska and Wisconsin, and Nebraska is moving to reverse the legislation now. Most of the big states like Texas and California put the measure in place before the public even knew about it and lawsuits are now active against the measure in those states.

In-state tuition for illegal aliens sends the wrong message and will only attract more illegal immigration into New Jersey and America.

The vast majority of Americans oppose any taxpayer benefits for illegal aliens including licenses and in-state tuition.

What do you have to say to the innocent American students who will not be going to the college of their choice if you pass this bill in a rush for Corzine to sign?

In-state tuition for illegal aliens forces taxpayers to pay more to replace our own children in the limited seats in our colleges that fill to capacity each year. Generations of Americans have paid to build and maintain those institutions, and they belong to the public and the public is telling you to STOP those bills!

Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee is one of America's largest grass roots organizations fighting against illegal immigration and Amnesty for illegal aliens. Our 30,000 supporters come from all 50 states and represent every race, political party, denomination, and walk of life. We are also blessed with the support of many legal immigrants who are sick and tired of illegal immigration.

The eyes of the nation are now upon New Jersey after receiving word of this treacherous attempt to ramrod unpopular and destructive legislation through to provide taxpayer benefits and unfair advantage to illegal aliens to be signed by the departing governor.

Please show Americans that you are willing to represent them and that there are elected officials willing to do the right thing and not rush the legislative process to achieve an underhanded victory on behalf of illegal aliens and their families.

    Sincerely,

    William Gheen

ALIPAC Moves To Stop In-State Tuition for Illegals in New Jersey

    January 6, 2009

The national organization, Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, is deploying activists from across America into an effort to stop in-state tuition for illegal aliens in New Jersey as some state lawmakers there rush to pass the unpopular legislation before Governor Jon Corzine leaves office and is replaced by a governor who would veto the bills.

"This is a classic example of lawmakers who support illegal aliens more than American citizens, using an underhanded tactic to provide taxpayer benefits to illegal immigrants at the expense of innocent Americans," said William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. "Many New Jersey citizens voted against Governor Corzine due to his support for this legislation. Polls show that about 80% of Americans oppose in-state tuition for illegals, but some legislators apparently don't care about the American public anymore."

ALIPAC has helped defeat in-state tuition legislation in more than 20 states in the last five years. The measure has failed dramatically, even in states controlled by large margins of Democrats in the state legislature. Democratic party controlled legislatures in North Carolina, Arkansas, and Colorado recently defeated these bills by large margins.

"Most legislatures reject this kind of legislation because of the intense public outcry and backlash against it," said Gheen. "In-state tuition for illegal aliens encourages more illegal immigration and replaces innocent American students in the limited seats in our colleges at taxpayer expense!"

ALIPAC supporters in New Jersey and from all other states are being asked today to contact New Jersey state lawmakers to ask them to oppose and vote against Assembly Bill 194 & Senate Bill 1036 (A194 & S1036).

    I live in New Jersey

I live in New Jersey and have been an active member of Numbers USA for awhile now, the worst offender here is Senator Menendez, I will do everything in my power to see that he is not re-elected. New Jersey is one of the most expensive states to live in, property taxes and car insurance are the highest. We cannot afford to help people who break the law. My son is in school now and I'll do everything that I can to stop the illegals from getting another penny of my tax dollars. I used to work at a local food pantry, 90% of the people in line were illegals with children and expecting another one, I was told they get free rent, free food and free medical. We have got to stop the anchor baby law. NO MORE FREEBIES! When we stop the freebies they will stop coming here. We also need to increase the fines on people who hire the illegals here. If they have no work they will leave and go some where else to freeload.

[quote]Tea Party group wants to recall Menendez

Citing partisan politics and votes against limiting the government’s control over health care, the Sussex County Tea Party has launched a petition drive to recall U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-Hoboken), a massive undertaking that would require the signatures of 1,306,224 registered voters to get on the ballot.

New Jersey is one of eighteen states that allow voters to recall statewide elected officials. Elected officials can face recall elections if organizers follow specific legal guidelines and collect the signatures of one quarter of all registered voters. As of last month, New Jersey has 5,224,896 registered voters.
