Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) is calling on Senator John McCain to retire from the U.S. Senate immediately instead of trying to hang on to his power and influence from his deathbed when it is clear he is no longer of sound mind and body.
Senator McCain is a six-term Senator who is considered to be terminally ill with brain cancer and has not been in Washington, DC, since December of 2017. Numerous sources say that McCain is not likely to return to Washington because he is not expected to survive. Yet, McCain has not relinquished his seat and has not retired. In fact, he continues to issue opinions about legislation and President Trump.
"The citizens of Arizona, and all of America, deserve to have capable representatives who are of sound mind and body and able to focus their time and energy on matters of national importance," said William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. "Senator McCain is doing his constituents and legacy a great disservice by refusing to gracefully retire from the Senate. We hope Senator McCain will put the best interest of Americans ahead of his personal desire to hang on to power, and retire immediately so a healthy successor can be chosen by voters in the 2018 elections."
ALIPAC conducted an internal poll which found 99% of the national organization's 50,000 supporters feel McCain should resign right away.
If John McCain were to resign, his Senate seat could be filled in the 2018 elections by someone who can physically and mentally do the job.
Americans for Legal Immigration PAC has successfully fought to stop Senator McCain's numerous attempts to pass Amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants in Washington since 2004, and is hopeful that Arizonans will elect new candidates who do not share McCain's efforts to turn millions of illegals into Democrat voters.
If McCain does not officially retire soon, he will be remembered as a man who clung to power until his last moments in life instead of doing the right thing for his constituents and the nation.
