We have to decide whether we need to move against employment of illegal aliens. Anything used to prevent identity fraud is going to get somebody upset. Other wise if we pass an enforcement measure we just promote identity fraud.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

    ??

I couldn't see a reference to face scanners in the article related to the bill.

"Lawmakers working to craft a new comprehensive immigration bill have settled on a way to prevent employers from hiring illegal immigrants: a national biometric identification card all American workers would eventually be required to obtain.

Under the potentially controversial plan still taking shape in the Senate, all legal U.S. workers, including citizens and immigrants, would be issued an ID card with embedded information, such as fingerprints, to tie the card to the worker. "

I have worked in South Korea, Laos, Thailand, the UAE, and the Sultanate of Oman. Each one of these countries REQUIRES everyone to carry a national ID card. If you are involved in a minor traffic infraction, or any other activity that is remotely criminal, the police ask you for your national ID card. If you don't have one, they take you to the police station to figure out who you are. If you are illegal, they deport you within days.

I think a national ID card with fingerprint/iris data is exactly what we need. It automatically tells the police who you are. I think this is a massive benefit to the anti illegal immigration cause.

National ID cards SHOULD be given to every LEGAL US citizen. The only problem I see, is it sounds like they want to give these cards to immigrants as well, which I think is a big mistake, because it will essentially "legalize" illegals.

I am all for a biometric (fingerprint/iris) national ID card issued to LEGAL US CITIZENS ONLY!!!!!!

If you had studied the CFR documents and the related reports coming in here over the last few years, you would see that the clear pattern is for them to establish FRT for facial scanning.

Anyone that would hand the current government of the US and the likes of Chertoff and Napolitano more power over them is making a very big mistake.

Cant you see that the biometric ID is not to prevent illegal immigration.

The biometric ID is for you and for them and for them to stay and you to lose and you to be brought down to your knees!

That ID is not an immigration enforcement tool, it is a control tool.

I am not neccesarily against a specific form you oppose but realistacally the facts are these. Not having any system in place to prevent identity fraud is turning control over to the status quo. If there is no way to tell who someone is it just puts a premium on acquiring the papers of a legal immigrant or citizen. The last time I was mugged the thief took the money and dropped my papers. Not having any system in place to empirically identify someone will cause the thieves to go for the papers because they or someone else can use them. Any system based on an empirical proof is going to have it's detractors.

This is awful, this is an effort to totally take away all our freedom. We must stop this or the generation after us will have no life at all, they will be under the total control of a socialist government, how sad, that is why we cannot give up and we cannot give in!

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places .

This is just a rewrap of the Real ID Act. No, I will not take the biometric identity device. It is the mark of the beast.

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

    No thanks.
