Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) will keynote a rally at the Phillip O. Berry Academy Gymnasium in Charlotte, NC on 30 January at 7 PM as part of his "Secure America Now" tour.
Tancredo will encourage attendees to contact Senators Dole and Burr to oppose any amnesty bill for millions of illegal aliens disguised as a Guest Worker bill. Many members of North Carolina's Congressional delegation oppose Guest Worker amnesty. NC Congressional representatives Coble, Foxx, Hayes, Jones, McIntyre, and Myrick are members of Tancredo's 91 member Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus. Congressman McHenry has also stated his opposition to Guest Worker amnesty provisions.
Unfortunately, Senators Burr and Dole have been leaning towards supporting a Guest Worker Amnesty which is favored by many corporate Political Action Committees. The US Senate is expected to try and insert guest worker amnesty language into a bill soon.
Dole and Burr's positions are out of line with North Carolina voters in a state where benefits and rewards for illegal aliens are opposed by over 80% of the population in numerous polls. Concerns about illegal immigration have risen to a top issue in NC after at least 6 people were killed or maimed by drunk driving illegal aliens in the second half of 2005.
Other speakers at the event will include Bay Buchanan of Tancredo's Team American PAC, William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, Ron Woodard of NC Listen. The Master of ceremonies will be Vernon Robinson of NC Education Reform Action Network.
This event is being sponsored by NC Education Reform Action Network, Team America PAC, Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC), and NC Listen. More information on the tour found at www.TeamAmericaPAC.org

Burr and Dole are history
Burr and Dole are already finished in my book. Their dead silence in the state (NC) that has the highest rate of illegal residency and the tax burden to match it in the entire US; make their silence, inaction, double talk, and collaboration with the Bush administration's wide open borders and illegal immigration amnesty garbage grounds for removal from office. These two Republican individuals were put into office and given political power precisely to secure and serve the interests of NC voters not the goddamned RNC or President Bush's idiotic, selfish, and destructive whims. Senator John Edwards (D) was thrown out of office for doing the same thing for the DNC and the Clinton administration. Why should Republican failures and frauds be treated any differently?
Selfish, self-seeking politicians that ignore and work contrary to the wishes of their electorate should be thrown out of office as fast as they can be booted. What the hell good are they? Supporting wide open unsecure borders and illegal immigration isn't equivalent to supporting a pork project road or bridge. It represents such a colossal failure in both judgement and common sense as to render the proponent of it worthy of being prosecuted and imprisoned in addition to being throw out of office. I have no patience for RINOS, Republican liberals, or two-faced backstabbers regardless of party label, and these two have chosen a path of partisanship, self-interest, and ignoring the dire plight of NC voters on their own.
Burr and Dole - why are they betraying us?
You couldn't be more right. I have emailed both of them on several occasions. Only once did I get a reply. I think these people live in exclusive neighborhoods and the only immigrants they ever deal with are Maria and Hector, their maid and gardener.
I expected a lot more from them.
I'll be at Tancredo's meeting as I live in Charlotte.
