In fairness to Dobbs, he has taken a rather sophisticated "secure the border first" position for awhile, although his emphasis was on border and port security, and to a lesser extent enforcement of laws. And of course his emphasis on this was better than most of the MSM (and sincerity greater than John McCain).

Now since Dobbs may be running for office, he seems to emphasizing (at least on Telemundo), the need for amnesty under "conditions" which sounds very much like "path to citizenship" amnesty such as what we saw in 1986.

Dobbs is probably not going to change his mind and suddenly become an attrition supporter. So I would think that while many disagree with "conditional" (i.e. pathway) amnesty and that enforcement of laws/ attrition over time is the best way to deal with those who are here illegally, now is not the time to be discussing any form of amnesty while our borders are still unsecured and laws are still largely unenforced.

I don't know whether the supportive Dobbs website should be pulled or a public rebuke is necessary, although active solicitations for funds for him should be ceased.

Just for the record, I think ALIPAC should quietly disassociate itself from Dobbs in all matters, since there is no way to know what else he may decide to change. This would avoid further possible embarrassment and confusion.

I just don't see Dobbs getting better or even staying even. He wants to be free, let him go.

How many elected politicians come out and say they want every illegal alien deported? Would be interesting to see the list.

I have never been a big fan of Dobbs, though he seemed to be a strong opponent to the last amnesty try.

I would press him on which illegal aliens would be provided a pathway to citizenship. Do they jump ahead of other immigrants trying to get in. Do they have to do a "touchback". What if they paid taxes 8 of 10 years they have been here. Did they commit ID theft? What if they only committed misdemeanors -- what if they committed a felony? What the heck does law abiding productive taxpaying illegal immigrant mean? How are they going to process all those people? What about the jobs they are taking from poor working citizens?

Why not take him up on inviting maldef, laraza, and those fighting illegal immigration to the table to discuss this pathway. Who comes out making the best case to the American people? Sounds like a three ring circus.

One more thing: we'll have to see what Lou Dobbs reaction is when Gutierrez and Schumer start peddling their amnesty bills (while our border is still unsecured and laws unenforced). If Dobbs doesn't firmly oppose these, then we'll know his position has changed and he is pandering.

Forget Dobbs, unless you want fifty illegals moving in to the house next door. I wouldn't even send him a McCain peso if he runs. Let's find a real Conservative to support, no more "Centrist Moderates", that's just liberal lite.
