Hurrah: Major blow to Dem illegal alien Amnesty budget bill plan!

Many thanks to our ALIPAC activists who have been fighting to stop the budget Amnesty plot of 2021! And our heartfelt thanks to Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough for doing the right thing and ruling against this Democrat effort to subvert our laws and the rules of the Senate!

Here is ALIPAC's official appeal sent to MacDonough on 8-24-21

The woman in charge of enforcing the Senate’s rules reportedly won’t let Democrats put an amnesty for illegal immigrants into their budget-reconciliation bill.

According to a report Sunday evening in Politico, Elizabeth MacDonough ruled that providing a pathway to legal status and citizenship for about 8 million immigrants who are in the country illegally is not a budget-related matter, making it ineligible for the reconciliation process.

Budget reconciliation requires only a simple majority to pass, which the Democrats have a hope of mustering on the massive $3.5 trillion spending bill, rather the 60-vote threshold to overcome a Republican filibuster.

The decision marks a severe blow to Democrats’ hopes of passing an amnesty bill, since they have slim-to-no chance of getting 60 votes on that as a standalone issue.
Democrats had argued that providing legal permanent status to Dreamers, essential workers, farmworkers and those with Temporary Protected Status would have an impact on the federal budget and thus can be put into the reconciliation bill — an argument Ms. MacDonough didn’t buy.

    National Press Release : September 19, 2021 9:30pm

Immigration PAC commends Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough for doing the right thing and ruling that Democrats inserting Amnesty for millions of illegal aliens into a budget bill to subvert the filibuster rule violates Senate rules.

"It took a lot of courage and integrity for Elizabeth MacDonough to stand up to Schumer and Pelosi and do the right thing by ruling against their overt willingness to break the rules of the Senate to try and pass an unpopular Amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants using the budget bill. Illegal immigrants are amassing on our borders and rushing into America in historic numbers responding to appeals by the Biden administration and other Democrats enticing them with Amnesty legislation which violates federal law," said William Gheen, spokesperson for ALIPAC.us

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC sent a written appeal to Elizabeth MacDonough opposing the Amnesty in the budget on grounds it was not germane on 8-24-21, which stated...

    US Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth Macdonough:

Please explain to me why you are allowing the rules of Congress to be flagrantly broken by the reconciliation budget bill, which contains Amnesty for millions of illegal aliens along with other non-germane unrelated items?

State legislatures modeled after our federal model all have the same rule the US Senate does which requires the budget bill to only contain items that are directly and clearly associated with funding and expenditures.

Green cards, Amnesty, and voting rights for millions of illegal immigrant's legislation is clearly not germane to the budget.

If this budget bill and all of the radical legislative items contained within it, is passed into law using this sleazy tactic designed to bypass the Senate's time-honored filibuster rule, the backlash from the American public is going to be immeasurable.

How could anyone who truly cared about our country throw this kind of political gasoline on the fire at this time when our borders, economy, healthcare, and political systems are in dire turmoil?

The filibuster rule was designed to assure that no political faction holding only a narrow majority could institute radical changes to America's laws and policies. That is clearly the case today with the Democrat's narrow 50 vote margin in the US Senate.

Why are you allowing the subversion of the Senate filibuster rule? Is it partisanship, corruption, or both?

Otherwise, I look forward to your explanation of why you are allowing the Senate rules to be violated by this reconciliation budget bill.

It is so refreshing to finally see something happen the way it should in America like this when the trend is in the opposite direction.

It is a major blow, but unfortunately I don't think it is over yet. I think their attempt to get amnesty is down but not out.

From the Washington Times: "'Senate Democrats have prepared an alternative proposal for the Parliamentarian’s consideration in the coming days,' said Sens. Richard Durbin and Alex Padilla, the two top Democrats on immigration matters in the Judiciary Committee."
    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news...onough-blocks/

Chuck Schumer, from Rollcall: "Senate Democrats have prepared alternate proposals and will be holding additional meetings with the Senate parliamentarian in the coming days,"
    https://www.rollcall.com/2021/09/19/...migration-bid/

    From the same Rollcall Article:
One option under consideration, according to a person familiar with discussions, is to move up the date on the immigration registry, which the government has not been updated in decades and is currently set to 1972. This would allow immigrants who have been living in the U.S. since a revised date, and who have demonstrated “good moral character,” to become permanent residents.

'Should there be a concern about the package that we've put together, we have additional ways to structure the relief that we would then be able to present to her [MacDonough],'Rep. Zoe Lofgren, the California Democrat in charge of the Judiciary Committee’s immigration panel, told reporters earlier this month."
    https://www.rollcall.com/2021/09/19/...migration-bid/

Lofgren is likely refering to this plan on the fwd.us site: The immigration registry process is still in effect today. Individuals can apply to adjust status through registry if they arrived in the United States before January 1, 1972; have lived in the country continuously since then; are determined to be “of good moral character”3; and meet other admissibility and deportability requirements. 4

So we need to continue to make sure that the parliamentarian gets the information that I posted in the article at https://www.alipac.us/f12/parliament...on-now-388295/ and alert groups like NumbersUSA in that article that the fight is still not over.

There is also a Plan C that needs to be fought against. "Another option would revise a now outdated law, called section 245i, that had let certain migrants already in the U.S. by a certain date apply for permanent residence if they’re sponsored by a relative or employer and pay a fine. Without that, people had to file their applications at U.S. consulates in other countries."
