    Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) is responding to President Trump's new promises to end birthright citizenship for illegals and his pledge to create tent detention facilities at the border to house illegal immigrants without allowing them into the interior of the United States, which ALIPAC has lobbied Trump to do since January of 2016.

    Acknowledging the wide difference between what President Trump says or promises versus what he actually does, ALIPAC has been lobbying Trump to keep illegals at the border in tent detention facilities, preferably created and managed by retired Sheriff Joe Arpaio, for the last two years.

    ALIPAC also supports Congress, and possibly the President, clarifying the current politicized interpretation of the 14th Amendment back to its original intent to end birthright citizenship for illegal aliens who break into our nation or overstay visas and visa holding legal immigrants.

    The 14th Amendment states, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside."

    Those who wrote and passed the 14th Amendment on July 9, 1868, did not just say that citizenship is awarded to all born in the US as we interpret this amendment today. The Congress of the northern states made it clear their intention was to offer citizenship to the children of American slaves who were under the jurisdiction of the US, not future immigrants, and certainly not future illegal aliens piling into the United States by the millions.

    The court decisions of 1873 Slaughterhouse Cases and Elk v. Wilkins (1884) ruled the original intent of the 14th Amendment was to grant equal rights to freed black slaves, and the phrase “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” required that the petitioner for citizenship be “completely subject to their political jurisdiction, and owing them direct and immediate allegiance.” These cases excluded children born to foreign diplomats, American Indians, and all children of legal and illegal immigrants.

    Illegal immigrants and legal visa holders are not subjects of the United States which is a use of older English from the United Kingdom where citizens were subjects of the crown. Illegal immigrants are not "subject to the jurisdiction" of the United States and therefore should not receive the benefits of birthright citizenship.

    "ALIPAC supports Congress and the President immediately clarifying the proper legal interpretation of the 14th Amendment to its original intent which means no anchor babies and no birthright citizenship for illegal immigrants and visa holders," said William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. "America is one of the last nations on Earth to have a birthright citizenship clause interpretation, and it serves as a powerful magnet to illegal immigrants. The drug and illegal alien importing cartels are advising women of the best times to conceive a child to make the hard crossing of America's border and have the anchor baby as soon as possible on US soil to defend against deportation laws. Chinese birthright tourism companies are bringing Chinese nationals and others from Asia into California to have a child on US soil for the specific goal of exploiting our current misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment. All this must be stopped as a matter of national survival."
