Thread: Immediate Action Needed in North Carolina.

ALIPAC Activists,

I will be marching into the General Assembly TODAY with a flier for the legislators containing the news listed below. I plan to lobby like no one has ever lobbied before!

How can they sit there and take no action while our counties and cities rise to the challenge all around them? How can Democrat leaders Marc Basnight (Senate) and Jim Black (House) sit on top of bills in the rules committee while more and more North Carolinians lose their lives due to the inaction of these politicians?

Here is what we need you to do.

Many of you remember our campaign six months ago to distribute information to local city officials, members of Congress, Sheriff Departments, and city police departments.

This campaign is similar.

Action Item 1: Contact NC Congressional Delegation.

Please contact the following members of the US House and Senate and tell them you want to see the efforts Congressman Charles Taylor and Congresswoman Sue Myrick are launching taking place in their district. We must work together to make sure that each of these elected officials and their DC Staff and District Staff know about the actions of Congressman Taylor in Western NC. If we all work together, it is certain that other lawmakers will follow suit in NC.

1-A: Call Charles Taylor and thank him and tell him you are asking the other members of the NC Delegation to follow his lead.

1-B: Call and e-mail all DC and District offices for the others asking them to join Taylor's efforts. Send them copies of these articles as well. Some of you may want to get your fax machines out.

Action Item 2:

We need to reinforce this effort on the County level. Let's start by locating all of the County Commissioners and Sheriff Departments in these Counties. Let's call them and encourage them. Then, let's carry the message to the other 89 counties! This will be a big job and everyone needs to work together. Please post which counties you can cover here in this thread.

2-A: Call and e-mail the 8 county commissions and sheriff departments thanking them. You can point out that you are working to get more counties involved.

2-B: Carry the message about these 8 counties with your support language to the other 92 counties.

Action Item 3

We need to alert the other City Council Members and Town Board Members across the state to the actions of Councilman Carl Mumpower in Asheville. Here are the details on his initiative.

This is building pressure from the ground and the grass roots up.

We need someone to track down contact info for the Sheriffs of Alamance, Sampson, and Johnston Counties first thing! Tell them William Gheen of ALIPAC wanted them to have this info fast.

Also, we need to get this info out on some of the Law Enforcement and Emergency responder boards too.

I have spoken with Congressman Taylor's man in charge at the District office. I have offered our thanks and asked him to consider approaching the rest of the NC Delegation to ask them to consider following his lead on this.

I have messages in to the staff at Jones, Myrick, and McHenry.

We need more calls of thanks to Congressman Taylors office and everyone we can get on the phones to the Congressional offices first and foremost.
