National Organization Asks Mitt Romney for His Full Immigration Plan

National Organization Asks Mitt Romney for His Full Immigration Plan

    For National Release

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC is publicly asking GOP Presidential candidate and front runner Mitt Romney to release his full immigration platform now instead of waiting until later in the campaign as he indicated in an interview with Seth McLaughlin in the Washington Times.

Mitt Romney has rapidly gained support in the GOP primary by promising American voters he will oppose Dream Act Amnesty and take an enforcement only approach to solve America's illegal immigration crisis. Rick Perry experienced a dramatic decline in voter support after promoting in-state tuition for illegal immigrants. Newt Gingrich also experienced a decline in support after advocating Amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants meeting certain criteria.

Yet while Mitt Romney experiences a surge in support in critical primary states like Iowa and South Carolina by taking a tough stand against illegal immigration, he indicated in a January 11 article written by Seth McLaughlin in the Washington Times that he would "put out a series of immigration proposals before November of 2012 and I will look at adjustments to the law that I think may be necessary. But my principle is straightforward and that is that those who’ve come here illegally really should not be given a preferential path to permanent residency or citizenship."

Romney has also made a key campaign issue out of his support for "Legal Immigration."

ALIPAC is challenging Mitt Romney to share his full and exact positions on illegal immigration and Amnesty immediately and to define what he means by "Legal Immigration."

"Americans are responding favorably to Mitt Romney's promises to enforce our existing laws instead of changing laws to accommodate illegal immigrants," said William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. "Voters deserve to know Mitt Romney's full positions on these issues now and not later in the campaign. We are publicly asking Mitt Romney to disclose to voters his full positions before ballots are cast in South Carolina."

Mitt Romney has recently received the endorsement of immigration enforcement advocate Kris Kobach, who has worked to help create state legislation like Arizona's SB 1070, and Team America PAC's Bay Buchanan, which is encouraging to voters who are concerned about illegal immigration.

However, he has also been endorsed by Senator John McCain who is the most notorious Republican supporter of Amnesty for illegal aliens in America!

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC would like Mitt Romney to define his specific meaning in the debates where he has declared his support for "Legal Immigration."

"Support for Legal Immigration is a popular term and that is why we chose the name for our organization in 2004," said William Gheen. "But the American public is in no mood for illegal immigrants to be made legal by executive decree or legislative changes, and American workers cannot withstand continued hyper legal immigration levels which are already at historic highs above 1.5 million legal immigrants per year."

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC is one of America's largest national organizations that endorses and recommends federal candidates based on their support for America's existing border and immigration laws instead of any Dream or Comprehensive Amnesty legislation which would change laws to accommodate illegal immigrants and put them on a path to forming a nationally destructive legal voting bloc.

While ALIPAC does not endorse presidential candidates, the request for more information from Mitt Romney is being made to help voters obtain the information they need to make informed decisions. ALIPAC would like to commend all GOP and general election voters for working very hard to vet candidates in this election cycle.

"Americans may disagree on candidates, but many are fighting hard this year to know the accurate positions of candidates and to vote for the well being of America," said William Gheen. "This explains the rapid fluctuations in the GOP Presidential primary. We need candidates like Mitt Romney to share all details on important issues like immigration now and not later down the road when it will be to late for voters to change course."
