ALIPAC Swings Into Action Behind NC E-Verify Legislation

ALIPAC Swings Into Action Behind NC E-Verify Legislation

    July 7, 2009

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC), a North Carolina based national organization is going into high gear behind Senate Bill 32 "Employers Must Use Federal E-Verify Program" which would require city/county governments, and state and local government contractors, to use the federal on-line E-Verify system to check the workplace legal resident eligibility of new hires, so that legal residents are hired for new jobs, not illegal immigrants.

At the time of this release SB 32 (Sponsored by State Senator John Snow) is scheduled to be heard by the Senate Commerce Committee at 11am.

"NC's unemployment rate is over 11 percent and illegal immigrants are draining at least 1 billion dollars in state taxes according to estimates by two national organizations," said William Gheen of ALIPAC. "We need every single job in this state to got to Americans and legal immigrants. Our state legislators can send that message loud and clear by passing this bill and other immigration enforcement measures immediately."

William Gheen is going to the NC General Assembly today to lobby for this bill and measure.

ALIPAC supporters across the state and nation are being encouraged to support the effort with calls, e-mails, and faxes in support of immigration enforcement and SB 32.

ALIPAC also intends to notify the state by approaching talk radio shows from the coast to the mountains to generate more public attention and participation.

While ALIPAC is one of America's largest grass roots organizations fighting illegal immigration with recent legislative victories in over fifteen states, William Gheen is a North Carolina native with prior experience in many staff positions with NC lawmakers and their campaigns.

ALIPAC is credited with having played a roll in the defeat of HB 1183 "in-state tuition for illegal aliens" in 2005 and helping pass several immigration enforcement legislation in 2006 and 2007 including enhanced driver license security measures.
