New Poll Shows GOP base voters reject Plans to give Amnesty to DACA illegals 2 to 1
(The Art of Stopping the DACA Amnesty Deal)

    February 5, 2018

    Contact: Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) | ALIPAC.us | (919) 787-6009 | WilliamG@alipac.us

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC released certified national poll results today (View) which show likely GOP Primary voters oppose Congress and President Trump changing existing immigration laws to accommodate millions of DACA and Dreamer illegal immigrants with Amnesty by a dramatic 2:1 margin!

After ALIPAC's internal polling found 98% of the PAC's e-mail subscribers, 90+% of the group's supporters on Facebook (view), and 90+% on Twitter (View) favor Trump and Congress enforcing Ameica's existing immigration laws instead of changing our laws to help DACA illegals with Amnesty, ALIPAC commissioned the Barometer Polling Company to conduct a professional certified poll of GOP primary voters to measure how Republican voter views compared.

Barometer Polling found likely 2018 Republican primary voters by a margin of 2:1 want Republicans in Congress and President Trump to focus on enforcing our current immigration laws instead of their current focus on providing mass Amnesty to between 690,000 and 1.8 million illegal aliens!

This scientific poll asked 540 likely GOP Primary voters if Trump should “focus on enforcing our existing immigration laws or ask Congress to change the laws to provide illegal immigrants with DACA Amnesty.” A slightly different variation of the question was then asked if Congress should “focus on enforcing our existing immigration laws or change the laws to provide illegal immigrants with DACA Amnesty.”

Overwhelmingly, likely Republican primary voters said that the President and Congress should focus on enforcing our current immigration laws instead of even considering any form of Amnesty.

Sixty-seven percent of respondents said Congress should focus on enforcing the laws we already have on the books, versus only 33% who said they should focus on providing Amnesty. Similarly, 65.4% of respondents said President Trump should focus the resources of the federal government to uphold national immigration laws already in place.

"This new poll makes it clear that Republicans in Congress, and President Trump, should immediately abandon legislation and frameworks designed to change our laws to give Amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants if they want to keep their jobs in DC," declared William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. "These Amnesty plans, deals, and compromises will attract more illegal immigration into America while further undermining our existing laws and borders. We hope our new poll will help inspire GOP primary candidates to file against the pro-Amnesty Republicans we have identified on our Cantor List and Kate's List because any incumbent backing DACA is highly vulnerable in the 2018 and 2020 elections as was Eric Cantor."

In the hope that this new poll can derail current Amnesty plans in Washington, ALIPAC President William Gheen and a group of volunteers dubbed "ALIPAC Eagles" plan to hand deliver packets containing the Barometer Polling data showing 2 to 1 opposition to DACA Amnesty, along with a copy of this press release and a federal candidate survey asking GOP members of Congress to answer the same questions as in the poll, directly to the DC offices of every Republican member of the U.S. House and Senate this Tuesday, Feb. 6, and Wednesday, Feb 7.

    Many of ALIPAC's
deliveries of poll results to lawmakers will be broadcast live on the organization's Facebook (here) and Twitter (here) accounts on February 6-7.

ALIPAC's notorious volunteers have played key roles in defeating Amnesty legislation in Washington five times since 2004, and will be calling Republican House and Senate offices today to reinforce ALIPAC's message that, "A new, certified poll conducted by Barometer Polling found likely GOP voters oppose the current amnesty legislation plans and framework 2 to 1, and GOP primary challengers are being sought to run against every Republican backing a 'deal on DACA.' "

In addition to the majority of men and women included in the survey, likely Republican primary voters in all four census regions of the country also indicated their preference to enforce existing law, ranging from 61.8% in the Midwest to 76.8% in the South.

More granular numbers among the Republican Party faithful show an even greater level of support for enforcing existing laws already passed by Congress.

Seventy-one point two percent of likely Republican primary voters in states President Trump carried in 2016 want Congress to enforce laws already in place, including 79.9% of Southerners, 78.8% of men, and 62.4% of voters in the Midwest. Voters in those states provided Trump with 83.3% of his Electoral College votes in 2016 and sent 72.2% of GOP members in the House of Representatives to Washington.

These numbers are even more pronounced when you look specifically at respondents in districts located in states Trump carried that are also currently represented by a Republican member of Congress. Seventy-three percent of all respondents in these districts, including 80.5% of men, 81% of Southerners, and 64.6% of likely Republican voters in the Midwest, want their Republican member of Congress to enforce our current laws instead of providing Amnesty.

Methodology: The Barometer Polling Company presents these scientific findings based on a nationwide poll of 540 likely 2018 Republican primary voters who have voted in at least three of the last four Republican primary elections in their home state. All respondents interviewed in this study were part of a fully representative sample using an area probabilistic sample of registered voters from Aristotle International. The overall sample size was N = 540 with a margin of error of +/- 4.0 percentage points in 19 of 20 cases. It is important to remember that subsets based on gender, state, region, and congressional district carry with them higher margins of error, as the sample size is reduced. Data was collected using live callers calling landlines only and was conducted January 31-February 1, 2018.
