Pinterest Censors ALIPAC Memes Citing Hate Speech Rules

    ALIPAC
regrets to inform the nation that at 5:13 am on the morning of April 2, 2019, Pinterest sent an email notifying "we recently removed your "ALIPAC" board because it included many Pins that went against our policies on hate speech" when in fact the most recent pins posted were in opposition to federal Dream Act Amnesty legislation S. 874 sponsored by Senators Durbin and Graham.

Dream Act S. 874 would grant Amnesty to approximately 4 million illegal immigrants if ever signed into law by President Trump who has unfortunately endorsed similar legislation in 2018 such as the Goodlatte Amnesty bill HR 4760. ALIPAC activists have led the way against these bills in recent days triggering the Pinterest censorship.

The fact the censorship of ALIPAC occurred at 5 am Eastern Time suggests the Pinterest employees responsible for the deletion are working from another region of the planet outside the US or an algorithm shut down ALIPAC's board.

The Pinterest email goes on to explain that "Hate Speech" is defined as "content that attacks people based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability or medical condition."

None of the ALIPAC memes erased contained any messages that targeted anyone based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, etc... All of the ALIPAC memes deleted by Pinterest promoted the ALIPAC organization and took issue with the general issues of illegal immigration, lax border security, and Amnesty legislation in DC.

Closer inspection of the rules of Pinterest at their Community Guidelines link (View) shows additional criteria as "Also, please don't target people based on their age, weight, immigration or veteran status." Yet, none of the deleted memes on the ALIPAC Board targeted any individuals for immigration status.

"The Pinterest email notifies us that the board named after our organization ALIPAC has been censored from their platform along with all of the memes we stored there to fight against the new Dream Act Amnesty legislation in DC. The timing of this censorship suggests our efforts to stop Dream Act Amnesty bills HB 6 and S. 874 triggered a response from either the pro-Amnesty workers at Pinterest or their Executives," said William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. "While their email contains no mechanism for contact or appeal, we will attempt to contact Pinterest in many ways to contest this wrongful censorship of our board and organization. The freedoms of all Americans are under daily assault by Silicon Valley mega corporations like Pinterest, Facebook, Google, and Twitter that support Amnesty and the illegal immigration invasion of America through censorship, shadowbanning, and large corporate lobbying expenditures."

ALIPAC is asking activists and the American media to contact Pinterest to ask them to restore the ALIPAC board to their website.

845 Pinned Memes by ALIPAC remain up at this time but perhaps not for long. You can view what kinds of materials ALIPAC posts at...

Here are some examples of the last three political memes Pinterest censored by removing the ALIPAC Board.
