NC Citizens Rally Behind Bill To Restrict Illegal Immigration Today

A bill that would stop all state agencies and local governments from accepting the Mexican government issued Matricula ID cards used extensively by illegal immigrants is up for a vote in the NC House today!

House Bill 33 is sponsored by Representative George Cleveland and Mike Hagar, and it passed out of committee by a vote of 7-4 last week after Representative Deborah Ross rose to Internet fame for contending illegal immigrants from Mexico and Honduras should be treated as 'Americans'.

"There is a lot of excitement that our state is finally taking serious actions designed to curtail illegal immigration," said William Gheen President of ALIPAC. "Only illegal aliens need to use Matricula cards and today we have a chance to limit their acceptance to protect North Carolina workers, students, taxpayers, and voters from the negative effects of illegal immigration."

Numerous scientific and certified polls show that well over 70% of Americans oppose licenses or state supported ID, or any state benefits for illegal aliens. NC Lawmakers that vote for HB 33 are likely to please over 70% of their constituents.

Currently, the city of Durham, NC has ordered their police officers to accept the problematic Matricula Consular cards that the Mexican consulate sells indiscriminately as a form of ID. State agencies that issue driver licenses, voter registration, and welfare benefits have been accepting the cards as proof of residency. These practices will end if HB 33 passes into law.

William Gheen and other activists stormed out of the Durham City Council chambers last year when that body voted to accept Matricula cards as ID while restricting comments in opposition to the move from Americans.

William Gheen of ALIPAC will be at the NC legislature today with allied activists and leaders pressing NC Lawmakers to vote "Yes on 33!" Citizen activists from across America are being encouraged to join with NC residents calling and e-mailing NC House Representatives in support of the bill as well.

The group is currently involved with state legislation in 40 states and is credited with helping pass numerous enforcement bills while stopping legislation that provides benefits and incentives to illegal immigrants.
