Report on Protest of Mexican Government Occupation of Taxpayer Facility to Conduct Illegal Activities in Flat Rock, NC on Sat. June 28, 2008

North Carolina groups fighting illegal immigration such as NC Listen, The Action Club, and ALIPAC quickly assembled a protest in Flat Rock today. The protest was organized by Congressional Candidate and Asheville City Council member Dr. Charles Mumpower. Despite less than 24 hours notice, a total of over 40 people showed up.

We are issuing our own report after biased newspapers, such as the Raleigh News and Observer and the Wake Weekly Independent lied about our last rally in Raleigh on June 18, where we had 36 supporters assembled short notice, not "a dozen" as falsely reported in those papers.

Press releases were sent out Friday before this event and talk radio shows responded and the Asheville paper ran a story that had a shocking surprise in it. Despite assurances by NC Democratic Governor Mike Easley and the Democrat leadership of the NC General Assembly, a state employee of the community college in Flat Rock proclaimed that illegal aliens can still use the worthless and insecure document issued to illegals by Mexico call a Matricula Card to get a license in NC!

"Lee Anna Haney, a spokesperson for the college, told the anti-illegal immigration group North Carolina Listen that the state is among a few that recognize the Consular Matricula I.D. card as a valid form of identification to obtain a driver’s license."

Residents of North Carolina were able to witness a crime today in Flat Rock. What they saw was a felony according to the Federal Immigration and Nationality Act. Blue Ridge Community College allowed the Mexican Consulate to use taxpayer funded facilities, to issue Matricula Cards to illegal aliens.

We gathered near the entrance of the college and stood our ground. Holding signs, waving American Flags and protested this illegal activity. While standing there, we were being photographed not just by photo journalists from newspapers but by someone who seemed interested in what we were doing but not interested enough to speak with us. A young Hispanic woman at first sat in her car and photographed us, then drove on to the campus and later photographed us while standing behind some trees, as we walked down the campus entrance towards the area where the illegals were lined up.

The police and college officials watched us as we got closer to the illegal activity. One of the reporters who had been interviewing us said, that a college official would like to speak with us. Carl Mumpower who is running for the 11th District Congressional Seat said, we would all speak with him together once we made one trip around the campus.

As we moved to the back of the campus, we were able to spot the illegals, lined up ready to receive their consular cards. They didn’t look too happy to see us and the bashful but interested photographer was there to greet us with her camera and yet again did not speak to us. It seemed a bit ironic, that the college was allowing illegal activity to go on literally at their backdoor.

Once we left the area and went to the front of the building, we were greeted by a police officer and college spokesman who said “That normally the university requires a one week notice of any type of gatherings on campus but they were going to waive it for us.â€

And the law abiding American citizens protesting illegal activity at a publicly funded institution are the ones who come under the scrutiny of the police while the illegal activity happening in front of their very eyes is completely ignored from official scrutiny. This is INSANITY!! If America doesn't wake up then these stupid people deserve to lose their country. The sad thing is that we patriots will have to pull this wagon by ourselves. Too many sheeple will refuse to pay attention until they are loaded onto the cattle cars. OUTRAGEOUS!!
