New Strategy to Defeat Amnesty in Utah!

UPDATE AND WARNING: We have corrected the LDS Church contact info in last item. Expect push-back from LDS and Senator Hatch's staff. They are going to deny involvement with this Amnesty. Please expect opposition and politely assert that you are aware that both LDS and Senator Hatch are pushing for the HB 116 Amnesty that Governor Herbert needs to VETO. It is common for us to be opposed when contacting our opposition during activist alerts and some of our new activists are being confused by the push-back from these offices. Your calls are likely to send LDS and Hatch running to Herbert asking for a veto. LDS and Hatch are upset that you know they are pushing amnesty behind the scenes. Please continue to politely but assertively let them know you are aware they are pushing Herbert to sign HB 116 Amnesty legislation despite their denials.

Get on those phones, faxes, and emails!!!

    Friends of ALIPAC,

We have a new strategy designed to defeat the Amnesty legislation which is likely to be signed into law soon in Utah. If Governor Herbert signs the guest worker Amnesty bill HB 116 into law, it will have a highly negative impact on our pro-enforcement advance in the states.

Please take immediate action to fully deploy our new strategy. We need thousands of calls made today and Friday.

Step 1: Please read our national press release and understand our strategy. Please send copies of this release to your favorite talk radio shows, and local and national media.

ALIPAC Asks Utah GOP To Retire Senator Hatch and Governor Herbert Over Amnesty
    http://www.alipac.us/ftopicp-1195977.html#1195977

Step 2: Call/Write Governor Herbert's office with our new message.

"I am calling/writing to inform Governor Herbert that 70% of Americans oppose Amnesty bills like Utah's HB 116 according to numerous scientific polls. If he does not veto HB 116 I plan to work to defeat Governor Herbert and Senator Orin Hatch in the 2012 elections. With 70% opposing HB 116, defeating Herbert and Hatch can be accomplished."

    Governor Gary R. Herbert
    801-538-1000 or 800-705-2464
350 North State Street, Suite 200
    PO Box 142220
    Salt Lake City, Utah 84114-2220
    Fax 801-538-1528
    Email Link
    http://www.utah.gov/governor/contact/index.html

Step 3: Call/Write US Senator Orin Hatch's main Utah Office

"I'm calling/writing to let Senator Hatch know that I am aware he is behind this push in the Utah legislature to pass a form of Amnesty for illegal aliens, that he has been previously unable to pass in Washington. I am calling on Republicans in Utah to retire Senator Hatch as they did Senator Bennett! Hatch and Herbert are both going to be retired in the 2012 elections over this HB 116 guest worker Amnesty bill in Utah."

    Senator Orrin Hatch
    Washington DC Office
    104 Hart Office Building
    Washington, DC 20510
    Tel: (202) 224-5251
    Fax: (202) 224-6331

Step 4: Politely remind the LDS Church of their tax status

"I'm calling/writing the LDS Church to remind you that our government gives tax exempt status to churches for charitable work. We do not give you a tax break to pursue political activity as you have in the matter of HB 116 and the Utah Compact. The LDS Church's effort to influence Utah lawmakers to pass an Amnesty for illegal aliens is unacceptable. Around 70% of Americans oppose Utah's HB 116 and the efforts of the LDS church in this matter. I intend to work against the agenda of the LDS Church in Utah and across America as long as your church continues to try to aid and abet illegal aliens in violation of our existing federal laws."

LDS has several ways to contact:

    50 West North Temple Street
    Salt Lake City, Utah 84150
    Telephone
    801-240-1000
    http://radio.lds.org/eng/about/contact-us
    email: feedback@allegiancetech.com

All calls and emails must be highly professional, civil, and respectful. You can be firm, but not over the top. Anyone who goes over the top will only help the cause of illegal aliens.

Please take 30 minutes today or Friday to make these calls followed up by a written version of your message.

Let's apply the proper pressure on Governor Herbert, Senator Hatch, and the LDS Church today to increase the chances of veto for Amnesty Bill HB 116.

Church of Jesus Christ of LDS is Neutral.

I have supported Alipac against Illegals all the way. I am LDS and the church believes in having your own freedom of voice. The LDS Church is in no way protecting illegals. We believe totally in keeping all the law of the land. Some of the LDS political people also have their own choices on the decisions they make. I certainly do not agree with Hatch. I do support you in voicing our opinions against individuals who are for illegals but I will not support you when you are pointing fingers and accusing the Church of Jesus Christ, in no way will I stand for that!

I will give you the website url.

    Political Neutrality - LDS Newsroom
    newsroom.lds.org

The Church’s mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, not to elect politicians. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is neutral in matters of party politics. This applies in all of the many nations in which it is established.

    The Church does not:

Endorse, promote or oppose political parties, candidates or platforms.
Allow its church buildings, membership lists or other resources to be used for partisan political purposes.
Attempt to direct its members as to which candidate or party they should give their votes to. This policy applies whether or not a candidate for office is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Attempt to direct or dictate to a government leader.
    The Church does:

Encourage its members to play a role as responsible citizens in their communities, including becoming informed about issues and voting in elections.
Expect its members to engage in the political process in an informed and civil manner, respecting the fact that members of the Church come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences and may have differences of opinion in partisan political matters.
Request candidates for office not to imply that their candidacy or platforms are endorsed by the Church.
Reserve the right as an institution to address, in a nonpartisan way, issues that it believes have significant community or moral consequences or that directly affect the interests of the Church.
In the United States, where nearly half of the world’s Latter-day Saints live, it is customary for the Church at each national election to issue a letter to be read to all congregations encouraging its members to vote, but emphasizing the Church’s neutrality in partisan political matters.

    Relationships With Government

Elected officials who are Latter-day Saints make their own decisions and may not necessarily be in agreement with one another or even with a publicly stated Church position. While the Church may communicate its views to them, as it may to any other elected official, it recognizes that these officials still must make their own choices based on their best judgment and with consideration of the constituencies whom they were elected to represent.

I hope that I am NOT, as you say, "over the top here"!

    LDS Church 10 March 11

    50 West North Temple St.

    SLC, Utah 84150

    Dear LDS Church:

I have been a strong supporter of the LDS Church for many years ever since I met my first Mormon when I was about 27. I find your strong allegiance to each other and the strong moral principles in which you believe to be extremely admirable. Even though I am not a religious person, you would find me to be one of your firmest advocates along with any religion which believes and follows the 10 Commandments.

This is why your support of this Illegal Alien Amnesty Bill HB 116 is so shocking to me.

You certainly understand that Illegal Aliens, who are subverting our National Laws and have entered this nation illegally are, in point of fact, FELONS. Please explain to me what gives you the right to support and give succor to Illegal Alien Felons?

Certainly, you do know the Eighth Commandment! As you seem to have forgotten, let me write it for you; “You shall not stealâ€

What Senator Hatch Thinks About Amnesty.

    Senator Hatch stated,

"I agree with the Tea Party people. I think it's about time we reared up in this country and said ‘Enough, we're spending way too much, we're going into debt too far,'" Hatch said. "Should President Obama be re-elected, they're sending you young people down the river."

One audience member asked about the DREAM Act – specifically why Hatch ultimately voted against it when he was the one who originally drafted it.

The DREAM Act would have offered in-state college tuition and citizenship to the children of undocumented workers. Current political conversation is teeming with debate over several immigration reform bills.

"They made it into an amnesty bill. I can't support amnesty," Hatch said. "I don't think we're ever going to get this problem solved until we secure our borders."

"It’s a pleasure to be with you today. I’m honored that the Heritage Foundation has invited me to speak about my soon-to-be introduced bill, the Strengthening Our Commitment to Legal Immigration and America’s Security Act.

We know that the immigration-related efforts by the Obama administration and the Democrats have focused more on building support from their political base, knowing full well that the more mainstream members of their party are opposed to amnesty-focused immigration reform. In the meantime, our immigration system continues to be woefully inadequate in preventing the types of immigration abuses we are experiencing across the nation.

Throughout my service, I have spent considerable time with my constituents and, quite frankly, have anguished with them on how to best address the strain the illegal alien population is having on my state and others across the nation."

    Senator Hatch on Illegals.

    US Senator Orrin Hatch

HATCH REINTRODUCES BILL TO ADDRESS MAJOR IMMIGRATION WOES IN UTAH, U.S.

WASHINGTON – With illegal immigrants flooding over U.S. borders and draining federal and state welfare coffers, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) today reintroduced a bill to address several major immigration concerns raised by Utahns and other Americans.

Hatch’s bill, Strengthening Our Commitment to Legal Immigration and America’s Security Act, addresses a wide range of actual and potential immigration woes, including the possible misuse of the parole and deferral process to grant mass amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. It also would crack down on identity theft, make our visa system more efficient, trace the amount of welfare dollars diverted to illegal immigrant households, and help put a halt to Mexican cartels using our national parks and public lands to grow marijuana and other drugs.

“Everywhere I go in Utah – from Salt Lake City to St. George, Parowan to Price and Moab to Milford – the message I am receiving from Utahns is the same: We need to fix the immigration problems in Utah that are caused by the flood of illegal immigrants spilling over our nation’s porous border with Mexico,â€

Yes, Senator Hatch's office is upset that we are confronting him on his behind the scenes support for HB 116. We are not supposed to know as he would prefer to conceal his current and past support for Amnesty since he is up for reelection in 2012.

Hatch is playing the McCain game. Tell everyone you have changed your position, ask forgiveness, deny you support Amnesty, get reelected, then go back to supporting Amnesty JUST LIKE JOHN MCCAIN HAS ALREADY DONE.
