Ø Provide greater enforcement of immigration laws. As a response to the federal government's failure to enforce immigration laws, the Senate approved allowing state and local law enforcement agencies to give their officers the authority to investigate, arrest and detain illegal immigrants. (SB 1523)
Does this mean local law enforcement will start cracking down on employers that hire illegal aliens? If not, who is going after the employers in private businesses - it sure isn't ICE.

MW, I think that what will happen here will be more of a doing away of the "don't ask" policy that a lot of police agencies have. I don't expect local law enforcement to go out and start grabbing people just because they are illegal aliens. However, the ones they come into contact with through normal law enforcement actions, that the local police may not have done anyting with in the past, will probably have some action taken. If anything, they could be detained until their status is verified.

I don't really see local police getting involved in workplace enforcement unless there are other issues/criminal activity involved.

Yea, we will have to set that up next year along with securing our voter registration and taking away taxpayer benefits.

No license, no job, no welfare, local police looking for illegals ='s illegals go home.

    Now that's a workable equation!

It would be great if all the states would use their authority to do the same. Our legislators know that this is an election year and that folks are tired of their games.

CA sucks! We (those of us against illegal immigration) need help in this state. Arnold absolutely needs to go away. The democratic controlled legistature needs to disappear.
We need balance and the only thing the Republicans can give us is Arnold. We haven't any choice in this sorry state. Ergo the status quo!

Retiring to NC from MD in 2008. Illegals flooding state!!!

I visit NC quite a bit, Illegals are really flooding the State, the cause is the Employers Period, Ex Brotherinlaw one of the Traitors hires Illegals for Construction Co. Got so heated we almost broke out in fistacuffs. Called him to his face a bonefide 100% TRAITOR!,he'd sell Grandma for buck! I will become much more active when I retire and have more time.
Till then I hope they can slow Illegal Invasion!
