ALIPAC: Wed update attn all activists

    Friends,

We are looking into reports out of DC that the immigration language was stripped from the Iraq funding bill last night.

Some are saying the amnesty is dead. Others are saying that now 60 votes will be needed to keep that language in the bill. Others are saying the H2b visa increases remain in the bill.

Please standby as we work feverishly to determine what the situation is before sending to our national supporter list.

US farmers need to jump on the mechanization bandwagon as quickly as they can. They also need to go out of their way a bit if they really need workers: go to the temp agencies, go to the colleges, go to the inner cities.

Here are some links to the Senate we can periodically check back on the status:

Note - the Original Bill HR2642 - "War Supplemental Bill"

So far, I find no explicit mention of the Feinstein-Craig Amendment in the bill.
    ...But am still looking....

Agreed. I seriously wonder how many of the big farms that make the siren call of 'we can't find workers ....<willing to work as virtual slaves>', have ever bothered to try to list those jobs with the local employment department (?) I'll bet it's more like what you said in a different thread - they're out on the golf course, complaining about all the paperwork, <blah, blah>, but just can't find a way to deal with the reality that hiring illegals, is well, illegal and just resent they are being forced to do things on the up and up for a change. Only when the pain of continuing to paddle up stream (by steadfastly continuing to prefer to hire IAs) becomes so painful, that mechanization is seen as a palatable alternative will any concrete action be taken to move away from IA labor.

Or, stated another way, it would be interesting to map out the existing processes and components to this agricultural business 'model', take it to a financial planner/auditor/accountant and they as part of the disclosure, state that, 'my business depends on illegal behavior to operate'.
Most reputable financial people will normally response with large eyes and / or strong protestations.

We need activists to verify this:

I was just told by Sen Tim Johnson (D-SD) office staffer that amnesty, and perhaps other immigration provisions were stripped out of the bill because it was sent back to committee.

We need verification as to what was removed and what is still in.

My senator Sherrod Browns office just told me that the Feinstein and Craig amendment as well as the H2B visa increases were stripped from the bill as of late last night, this ladyclaims she is a policy advisor.

I am keeping my fingers crossed.

But I am keeping my calls going until I get an official word.
We can't deport them all ? Just think of the fun we could have trying!

Burr's office staffer told me that the Feinstein/Craig amendment has been stripped but the Mikulski amendment (H-2B visas) are still in, as of now.
