[Watch] Trey Gowdy – Lois Lerner’s Choice Save Herself or Go Down in Flames

Congressman Trey Gowdy appears on America’s News HQ with Bill Hemmer and responds directly to whether or not Lois Lerner will be in attendance this coming Wednesday for hearings into the IRS targeting of conservative groups.
He said she will appear and says that her testimony may take place on Wednesday or it may take place a week later. Either way, she will testify and there is no discussion of immunity that is taking place.
When asked by Hemmer what does he think Lois Lerner knows, Rep Gowdy answers that she knows most of her previous answers are demonstrably false and untrue, this did not originate in Cincinnati.
Rep Gowdy tells Hemmer what he wants to do Wednesday, whichever Wednesday it ends up being, is to “not only tell your viewers what happened, because that’s very important, but also the motive, the why. Gowdy continues, saying, “Remember what she said last time she was before Congress, I’ve done nothing wrong, broken no laws, broken no rules or regulations; All three of those comments are false.”
Gowdy maintains, “But what your viewers need to know is why she did what she did, why the IRS targeted conservative groups, and I plan to tell them the motive, whenever Wednesday she comes.
Gowdy says the reason Lerner is coming back is because they have the evidence. Lerner’s decision is either to save herself or go down in flames. “She needs to save herself.”

EXCLUSIVE: IRS Org Chart Puts Ingram, Lerner at Center of Power


An official Internal Revenue Service (IRS) organizational chart of the Tax Exempt & Government Entities division from February 2011 offers a more complete picture of the authority Lois Lerner--the now-removed IRS director of the tax-exempt unit--and Sarah Hall Ingram--presently tasked with overseeing the implementation of Obamacare--held as the IRS scheme to politically target conservative groups was hatched.

As the above chart taken from an official IRS PowerPoint presentation confirms, Lois Lerner, who yesterday pleaded the fifth and refused to answer questions, was second only to Deputy Commissioner Joseph H. Grant and Commissioner Sarah Hall Ingram during the period when the IRS’s political targeting of conservative groups began.

The organizational chart also makes it clear that Determination Manager Cindy Thomas reported directly to Acting Director of Rulings and Agreements Holly O. Paz, who then reported to Lois Lerner. According to a Cincinnati Fox 19 report, Cindy Thomas was "the person who signed off on that release" for the confidential tax documents of conservative organizations to be sent to progressive journalism group ProPublica.

On Wednesday, Lerner, who helped devise the scheme to plant a question with tax lawyer Celia Roady at a conference to break news of the IRS scandal, said she was responsible for overseeing some 900 employees.

In total, as of the end of 2012, the IRS employed 97,717 workers.

Lois Lerner fears for her life if she testifies at Wednesday’s oversight hearing

Lois Lerner fears for her life if she testifies openly before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Wednesday, according to her attorney.
House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa announced Sunday that Lerner will testify at Wednesday’s hearing, but Lerner’s attorney Bill Taylor said that Lerner will seek to continue invoking her Fifth Amendment rights and will also seek a one-week delay of her testimony.
Oversight members are reportedly open to granting Lerner a one-week delay if she petitions for one in person at Wednesday’s hearing. The delay would allow Lerner’s lawyers to continue negotiating for immunity, which they have been doing since at least September.

“I advised the staff that calling Ms. Lerner knowing that she will assert her rights was not only improper but dangerous. Ms. Lerner has been the subject of numerous threats on her life and safety, and on the life and safety of her family. I left with the staff recent evidence of those threats,” said Taylor in a letter to Issa.
But Oversight previously determined that Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights when she made a statement attesting to her innocence at a May 2013 hearing.
Republican Reps. Jim Jordan and Jason Chaffetz, both Oversight members, said recently that they were considering holding Lerner in contempt of Congress if she does not testify.
Issa said on the subject, ”We want her to come back and answer questions. We’ll see on contempt.”
