Our President seems to think that this African warlord impacts our National Security.

Or, is he using our Special Ops troops as hit teams for hire internationally and presenting the US taxpayers with the bill?

White House Deploys More Special Ops Troops To Hunt For African Warlord

The White House notified Congress on Sunday night that it was committing troops and aircraft to aid in the hunt for African warlord Joseph Kony, who became widely known in the U.S. after the creation of a short film titled Kony 2012by the Invisible Children Foundation.

He is the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) in Central Africa, and his army uses brutal tactics which include mutilating and raping their victims, and selling children into the sex trade. He has been indicted by the International Criminal Court, and his organization is speculated to have been decimated to 250 soldiers in recent years. U.S. troops will be using information from defectors in their mission to track Kony.

According to The Washington Post, the approximately 300 U.S. personnel are to “provide information, advice and assistance,” but are not to engage the enemy unless in self defense. While based out of Uganda, armed forces will also be attempting to track Kony across Central African Republican, Sudan, and Congo. They will be using the fixed-wing Osprey aircraft, which has the ability to land and take off vertically.

Though the LRA poses no direct threat to the United States, White House officials are justifying the troop increase by suggesting it might strengthen relations between the U.S. and African countries.
