11-year-old girl gang raped in Sweden – Perpetrators walk free and laugh in her face

Swedish independent journalist Joakim Lamotte has talked to a mother whose 11-year-old daughter was raped by two men.
The girl was forced to both anal and oral sex. The young men were arrested, but released shortly after. Several times the daughter has met the boys when she walks to school. They laughed in her face.
The mother has just been informed that the investigation has been closed, and that her daughter will not be redressed.
Her daughter’s life has been destroyed, she says, and the only resort they see is to move to another town. She is strongly critical of how the police have handled the case.
At the same time, the political development in Sweden is worrying to say the least. While children are raped and the police fail to solve the cases, politicians in Stockholm cannot even form a government. The situation is acute and instead of talking to each other, the party leaders act like kindergarteners.
Because of this fuss, the new budget must not contain any new political proposals, which means that the police will not receive any new resources. “It is incomprehensible. I thought politicians would work for the people’s best. Now they only work for their own best,” writes Lamotte.
“They do not care that the ones suffering from this political mess are common people. As long as they themselves are not exposed, it is not important to take responsibility for Sweden. “How many girls must be raped in Sweden before politicians act vigorously? “It’s high time to end the political sandbox,” he concludes.

Massive increase in sex crimes in Sweden, number of female victims almost doubles – Report

In recent years, the proportion of Swedes that state they have been subjected to sexual offenses has increased dramatically, especially among women.
From 2013 and forward there is a clear change. A new compilation of the National Security Survey (NTU) from the Swedish Council for Crime Prevention (Brå) shows.
In 2006, 2.5 per cent of women and 0.4 per cent of men reported that they had been subjected to offenders.
And the statistics remained at that level for years. In recent years, the proportion that claim they have been exposed to sexual offenses has shown a clear increase, according to Brå.
As of 2013, the number grew significantly and has now multiplied. Now 10.7 per cent of women report that they have been victims of sexual offenses, compared to 1.6 per cent of men.
Between 2015 and 2017, the number of women nearly doubled, from 5.8 per cent to 10.7 per cent .
“It is important to bear in mind that sexual offense is a crime category that covers a wide range of crimes. Everything from milder incidents such as offensive sexual comments, to very serious crimes, such as rape”, says Maria Söderström, investigator at Brå.
The crime most Swedes worry about being subjected to is residential burglary, 28 per cent state this. 20 per cent of women and 2 per cent of men worry about being subjected to rape and assault.

As we reported yesterday, the number of men committing sexual offences against women in Sweden has drastically increased.
The official statistics of the National Security Survey (NTU) from the Swedish Council for Crime Prevention (Brå) show a very worrying trend for Swedish girls and young women.
In 2006, 2.5 per cent of all women reported that men had commit sexual offences toward them.
But since 2013 there has been a large surge in the number of cases with now 10.7 per cent of women who say that men have commit a sexual offence against them.
After specifying the groups, a much more worrying statistic is revealed. Young women in the 16-24 age category have seen a massive increase in sexual harassment by men, the Brå report shows.
The number of sexual offences against this group has seen a surge from 7.1 percent in 2006 to 34.4 percent in 2017.
But the Swedes don’t seem to worry much about it.
“It is important to keep in mind that sexual offence is a broad crime category that encompasses a wide range of crimes. Everything from milder offences such as sexist comments, to very serious crimes such as rape,” Brå investigator Maria Söderström tells national broadcaster SVT.
A criminologist even sees it as a positive development:
“The more we talk about it and the more it is written, the greater the effects it gets. To be able to report, you must first understand that what you have been exposed to is a crime.
“The more knowledge you get about harassment, the higher the chance you can tell what you have been exposed to,” Rung tells to SVT.

Swedish train driver who warned against pickpockets reported for racism

“Unusual announcements” have been called out in the subway during the past week. Several people attest that the announcer, on various occasions, has pointed out a certain group as pickpockets.
The group seems to be beggars. Josefin Meissner is one of those who has reported the announcements to SL (Stockholm Public Transport).
“Hold on to your phones, your computers, your coffee, because these people steal everything”, she claims to have heard in the subway on Tuesday.
She argues that it is racism and plans to report it to the police. I felt that it was targeted at a specific group. That it was no ordinary warning against pickpockets. It was just “watch out for these people”. And I thought at once that it was about beggars, she says.
Another person who heard a similar call is Linn Björlund. A male voice urged passengers to hide valuables like phones, computers and jewellery on Wednesday.
“And it was even worse when he said it in English, because he called the pickpockets ‘they’, ‘they get on now’”, she says. Claes Nyberg, press spokesperson at MTR/SL, says that they will have a talk with the staff about “good form”.
“It’s important that our employees know our rules, what is good form, and what they can and cannot say. And we will of course follow up on the issue”, he says.
