African American comments on Illegal Immigration

Reading some of the Post on here are unbelievable. The definition of alien is a foreign born resident who has not been naturalized and is still a subject or citizen of a foreign country. These non citizens of the United States are ILLEGAL ALIENS. They have no rights to demand anything. I too am a black American, and I agree with the other blacks on here. Blacks were brought here as slaves to help build this country for free. As U. S. citizens, blacks fought for their rights during Jim Crowism. I haven't heard any of these supporters talk about some of these racist Latino groups who plan on taking this country over. I live in Ward 4 D.C., and I have seen what my longtime middle class neighborhood is becoming, a ghetto barrio with a third world invasion. My own Ward 4 Councilmember running for mayor, supports giving voting rights to "non-citizens" of the District of Columbia. Guess what, he has lost the support of many black voters, because this is a slap in the face to black U.S. citizens. We had to fight tooth and nail as citizens in this country to get rights we deserved, but ILLEGAL ALIENS don't have any rights, but they do have the ear of these spinless Politicians. We need to secure our borders first by putting the military at both borders. Yes, we need to deport all these protesters back to their countries. Let them protest for change and rights in their countries. I see the fall of the U.S. if this third world invasion continues. Many of our middle class communities have become third world barrios. As citizens, if we speak out against these ILLEGAL ALIENS, then some want to call us racists. IS IT RACIST FOR SOME OF THESE LATINO GROUPS TO TELL BLACKS TO GO BACK TO AFRICA, AND FOR WHITES TO GO BACK TO EUROPE? Yes, my ancestors originated from Africa, but I don't have any allegiance to Africa. My allegiance is to the United States. Yes there is still racism in the U.S. between blacks and whites, but on the issue of ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, I think, this issue has brought both races closer together. As U.S. citizens regardless of race, we must fight for the sovereignty of our country. I don't support amnesty or citizenship to ILLEGAL ALIENS. I too am a Democrat, but I am fed up with the likes of Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and the Congressional Black Caucus for pandering to ILLEGAL ALIENS. If we don't get a handle on this invasion soon, they will continue to come and have lots of babies. (U.S. citizens) As U.S. citizens, we have a right to protect the interest of our nation. I am sorry for the poverty in El Salvador, Mexico, and other Central American countries, but we have too much poverty here in the United States. Are you aware of how many U.S. citizens still live in poverty in this country? Many white and black citizens are still suffering from last year's Katrina. I am somewhat a liberal on many issues, but after seeing these criminals out protesting and demanding rights, this woke myself and other blacks up. In closing, I must agree with others on here, it will be a Civil War in this country, if we don't get this crisis under control. I SAY, DEPORT THEM, AND SEND THEM ALL HOME.

I think you're right, the problems blacks and whites of this country have with each other is a 'family matter' and has nothing to do with illegal aliens. It reminds me of siblings fighting each other, but they won't let any one else do it.

When you are in someone else's country, you bow to their laws, you do not riot in the streets to change them! Unless ofcourse you are an organized militia committing acts of aggression.

I will not advocate for breaking the law as a means of reforming it. And I will not excuse the government of Vicente Fox of responsibility for the welfare of millions of Mexican citizens he is PUSHING across our borders.

I even heard one justification that Latin America had slaves too -- but what has that got to do with the slaves in America?

these people are using slavery, the 'Declaration of Independence,' the civil rights movement and even "Atzlan will rise again" -- don't these people have a mind of their own?

From talking with Mexican-American co-workers, I know there is a sense of entitlement at work. Many of them feel Mexicans have the right to come across American borders anytime they want because some of the USA used to belong to Mexico. They resent the Mexican-American War and the resultant Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo . . . they've never forgiven the US for that. There really is something to what Michelle Malkin says about a "reconquista" movement. We would all be fools to acquiesce to the demands of militant aliens. How can this be allowed to happen when we are at war and concerned about terrorist attack?

There was a Chicago radio host-and former alderman-being interviewed on my local NPR station, WNYC, a week ago who was explaining just how devastating the impact of illegal immigration has been in his community. People need to realize that the CBC does not represent the interests of their black constituents any more than George W. Bush represents the interests of all Americans. This is a fiction that needs to be dispelled. The sooner, the better.

Thats true they did have a huge black slave trade even before America. They also ran Native Americans off the land and desimated entire cultures.

The fact that they can continue to think that throwing those stones our way is ok when they themselves are not exempt from it just floors me. The fact that neither issue has to do with the price of tea leaves me awe struct. lol

I like your analogy Mamie, I guess we are like awnery sibblings in many respects. But still one big family. My son has told me what the latino environment is doing to the Black communities in Columbus, Ohio. The Black community has been strong and worked very hard there to build huge beautiful inner city parks and other positive communty resources. With the invasion of MS-13 gangs etc, it is all being destroyed. I cannot even imagine how those groups must feel to see all that work be torn to shreds. There was so much pride. And well deserved.

In order of the gov. giving this so gracious gift of a secure border to us , we are going to have to make concessions and give these poor hard working mexicans amnesty. How far can they go down until they go out? Only two true American heroes in Washington that I see, Tancredo and the other one who's name I've forgotten because I am so ANGRY. We are being sold a bill of goods. We are being cheated out of our country.
Even if all the Mexicans are stopped, there's some ridiculous law on the books to allow Salvadorans in by the millions. Our country is going to be a third world nation indeed. And sooner than anyone anticipates.

I too am a Democrat who is black and also feed up with the likes of Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and the Congressional Black Caucus speaking on the behalf of all blacks in regards to immigration. I have always had the utmost respect and admiration for all of the Kennedy’s who rallied for blacks to have equal rights and to ban the Jim Crow laws.
I am insulted that the civil rights movement has been compared to that of illegal liens by Ted Kennedy. The ancestors of afro-Americans were from Africa, but we were born in America, not AFRICA, and America is our primary homeland unlike MEXICANS, who were born in MEXICO and illegally crossed the border, so where is the similarity.

Americans are tired of paying taxes that help individuals of other countries and not our own citizens. Millions of citizens are making choices to eat or buy medication. There is no money to spare for ILLEGALS. I say to Bush, congress, and the senate, TAKE CARE OF AMERICAN CITIZENS FIRST.

Matthiew, welcome. I agree, take care of Americans first. But I would add that Americans must learn to take care of ourselves. We must not rely on the government, it just doesn't work in any way, shape, or form. We must be self-reliant. And had we been so, we would not be in the position we now find ourselves. Okay, now my buttons have been pushed. Illegal aliens are NOT involved in a civil rights movement! They are NOT CITIZENS. And they cannot compare violating American borders to African-Americans challenging segregation laws. Those who defied segregation laws were willing to go to jail to make a point that the laws were unjust. If the police had come to arrest these illegal marchers, you know they'd have turned tail and run like a horde of rousted rats. African-American demonstrators didn't get time off from their employers to go to rallies, either! Illegal aliens are so damn ARROGANT! They want the benefits of American citizenship without having to assimilate American values. They are trying to piggyback off of Martin Luther King's movement for justice, and they have a twisted concept of justice: Sneak into a country during a time of war, and when you have sufficient numbers, demand that laws be changed to exonerate your crime. It's blackmail! Many of these Mexican marchers are racists, too! A lot of them consider themselves White, and they look at Black people with scorn and disdain. They have blue and purple fits if their daughters so much as smile at Black men! It's just an extension of the racism that exists in Mexico, where dark-skinned Indians and Afro-Mexicanos are mistreated. There are a lot of so-called Black leaders who are committing me to "the immigrant struggle" without my permission. They should be deported! The same goes for so-called Gay leadership. The corporate lobby is currently blanketing the liberal media with essays and opinion pieces from these turncoats. Some of what they advocate is no less than treasonous. They're trying to stir up hostility between Black and White Americans, and between Gay and Straight Americans. One Lesbian pundit said: "Gays and Immigrants should unite because both groups suffer from the being in the closet." I would've bust a gut laughing if the situation wasn't so serious. Then I remember what one Black writer said: "This is just what the White crackers deserve." I wanted to tell that ignoramus what HE deserved! Don't let these traitors split our country down the middle! I pray to God their attempts to spark internal discord fail and fail miserably.

Personally, I've never felt closer to my Black countrymen. Too bad it took the illegal alien invasion to finally bring us together as AMERICANS, first and foremost.

Man it's upsetting to be called a racist. However, that is what they are doing to anyone that is against them. In reality they are the racist. That is why they only talk to people of their own race. They speak English and choose to go to a Hispanic only to talk in Spanish. That is the same as saying, I don't want to speak to a Black person, Can I speak to a white peson? That is what they are doing.

I think it is a generational thing. I'm 40 and most of my contemporaries and younger have never seen a white only water fountain, a no blacks sign or segregation. I was sent to a predominately black school, when the schools were desegregated. I have always gone to an interracially mixed school. The Asian refugees in the 80's came to school with me and that was fine too. My insurance agent is Asian, and I shop at the Asian market. I don't have issues with skin color. It is really painful to hear people call white people oppressor or racist, when I had nothing to do with that business ever. I am innocent. Always have been always will be. Also, I have 2 Mexican American in-laws and a nephew. My favorite cousin went to China and adopted a baby. She is beautiful. My children have many black friends that come to my house and hang out. I hate rap, but my kids are another story. If you will sit down and eat dinner with someone that is saying a lot about your position.

I'm just so sick of the older black leaders saying they need to defend themselves against me. Screaming discrimination and racist! I have never discriminated against anyone and I would be the first to stand up for someone being discriminated against. I've never seen it. It is sad. I hope we can turn a corner in America and the Black community will embrace what they have accomplished! They did it! They just fail or refuse to see it. All they have to do is look to the younger generation and open their hearts and minds to realize the great things they did for the future of all races. They changed a nation and the way of life for generations of blacks but they also changed future generations of whites. They need to overcome the invisible barrier and thow down their old weapons. They need to take up a new unified cause for the future of America.

I'm going to add that my great-great grandmother shunned her own son for marrying an Indian. My father's grandfater was German and he married an American Indian and his mother never spoke to him again. His mother only drove past the house one time, did not get out of the buggy and did not lay eyes on his children. I know what racisim is really like. I know how it effected my family.

I feel like it's my responsibility to try to tell my black countrymen what is going on, and it matters not where they are. I talked to a guy last week while having my aunts car serviced, I've got to take him some info. Then today I stopped to get gas and was talking to another guy -- then the guy that serviced my aunts car stopped to get gas, he just laughed and said he knew what I was talking about with this other guy.

like you said, there is a big difference in the civil rights movement of the 60's and the intimidation in the streets by illegals. These black Americans were willing to suffer the consequences of the law -- they were not protesting AGAINST the laws and it took courage to do what they did.
