African ‘Migrant’ Guilty Of Murdering Two Doctors, Threatens To Rape Wife Of D.A.

BOSTON, MA (WBUR) – A Suffolk County jury convicted a man in the stabbing death of two doctors in their Boston luxury condominium.


Bampumim Teixeira, 33, was convicted of two charges of first degree murder in the 2017 deaths of Dr. Richard Field and Dr. Lina Bolanos. He was also found guilty of home invasion, two charges of kidnapping, and two charges of armed robbery.


The verdict came after a chaotic morning, when Teixeira was removed from the courtroom after threatening to sexually assault the prosecutor’s wife.


Teixeira said “Hey Pappas, you better hope I never get out of jail,” before threatening the wife of Assistant Suffolk District Attorney John Pappas.


Court officers escorted him from the room.


Teixeira’s attorney, Steven Sack, tapped his client on the arm as he spoke.


His comments are under investigation to determine whether additional charges are warranted, District Attorney Rachael Rollins said in a statement.


The jury was not in the room at the time. Jurors started deliberating Monday after closing statements by the prosecution and defense.


Teixeira had pleaded not guilty to murder in the deaths of Field and Bolanos.


The suspect had no known personal relationship with the victims but had once worked briefly as a concierge in their building, prosecutors said.


Bolanos, 38, was a pediatric anesthesiologist at Massachusetts Eye and Ear.


Field, 49, was an anesthesiologist at North Shore Pain Management.


*In 2014 Bampumim Teixeira attempted to rob a bank, then, in 2016, he tried to rob the same bank, once again. He was allowed to plead guilty to only larceny, in both cases. He was sentenced to a term of 364 days, and only served nine months in prison.


He was still on probation at the time he murdered Dr. Richard Field and Dr. Lina Bolanos.


Teixeira came to this country in 2010, from Cape Verde, a small island just off the coast of West Africa.


Because Boston is a ‘sanctuary city,’ the African migrant’s crimes were never reported to ICE for possible deportation.
