International Students Now Displace Americans From Jobs

Notice that International Students coming to US colleges and universities qualify for special work visas that cause even more displacement of local US workers:

Record high of 690,923 international students came to US last year

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/15/us/15 ... .html?_r=1

The report found that a record high of 690,923 international students came to the United States last year — nearly 128,000 of them, or more than 18 percent, from China. Over all, the number of international students at colleges and universities in the United States increased 3 percent for the 2009-10 academic year.

Can international students work in the U.S.?
Yes, there are four separate employment categories for F-1 student visa holders. The law states in Title 8 of the Code of Federal Register, Part 214, that international students on F-1 visas are eligible for "practical training".

    What is practical training?
Practical training allows international students to accept paid work in the U.S. Practical training should allow them to gain experience in their field of study, which they normally could not obtain in their home country.

    Who is eligible?
Any international student who is enrolled in a U.S. college or university and who holds an F-1 visa may apply for Optional Practical Training.

When can a student engage in Optional Practical Training?
Students may begin practical training following completion of their degree requirements.

Outrageous! That's almost 700,000 Americans who couldn't go to college because foreign students took their seats. That's 700,000 Americans who can't find a job because a foreign student got a visa to take the job away from them. We not only lose the educations for our people, we lose the jobs that follow. That's really nuts. Why do we do this? What is the point or purpose?
