We are preparing our initiative against CAFTA. Please place the reasons you feel we should oppose CAFTA here and how it relates to immigration issues.

Reason to Oppose CAFTA

1. Provices "free flow of labor, people and goods into the United States from Central America".

2. Intends to flood the United States with foreign nationals from these countries to compete in our labor market here.

3. Will require Open Borders to comply with Treaty Agreement.

4. Results in the dissolution of the United States.

1. It puts American interests in the hands of unfriendly extra-national tribunals.

2. It dissipates the wealth of our nation without commensurate benefits.

3. It enslaves the working people of the Central Americas. They need and want decent compensation and working environments. As long as those workers have no rights in their workplace this agreement would ensure that those rights would never be addressed. As a nation, we could not be proud of that 'accomplishment'.

4. This 'agreement' is filled with deceptive language.

5. This agreement is 1,000's of pages of trade regulation. Regulations choke businesses.

6. This 'agreement' opens our borders. Forever.

My forefathers did not fight for this country to dissolve our borders in the name of "Big Business".
Homogenizing us into worker bees for the elite is not the legacy I want to leave my children.
This has been in the making for quite some time. I think the only thing that will stop the "Machine" at this point would be a war. Hey, maybe Haliburton will rebuild. Oops! Did I say that? Must have slipped... :evil:

Are you serious? Is this really how things work here? Rather than examining the facts, costs and benefits prior to forming an opinion, let's form an opinion first and then try to make up some reasons to support our opinion. Does anyone else see how stupid this is?

You just got here Ralph...we all know how when and why we're against CAFTA....

Now all that remains is to let our reps know in uncertain terms where we stand on the issues.

If they open our borders, they open our borders to all immigrants from Central America.

1. NAFTA has been a disaster for many.

2. CAFTA will give corporate domination over Democracy. It will give companies the right to sue governments over public interests laws.

3. U.S. companies will take advantage of the weaker worker's rights laws in Central American countries.

4. The rich will get richer, and the poor will get poorer.

Very good Judy and RR- you both covered basically all of it. I will add:
1. We have a huge national debt which will only get worse by allowing such programs.
2. We are destroying our nation with unprecidented numbers of illegal immigrants, far too much for any nation to carry without depleting every single resource and quality of life for our own American citizens.
3. America, because of programs like CAFTA, will suffer a huge financial collapse, far worse than any 'depression era' that our parents or grandparents experienced.
4. Unemployment for American citizens will reach outlandish percentages, while employment for non-citizens will continue to prosper.

WE DONT NEED NO STICKIN PROGRAMS, LIKE CAFTA!
