ALIPAC's Position on Biometrics & Illegal Immigration?

    Friends of ALIPAC:

We are working on a platform and position statement regarding biometric technology and the fight to reduce illegal immigration. Some lawmakers, candidates, and citizens feel we should use everything we can to stop illegal immigration including biometrics. Others feel that many biometric technologies are a threat to civil liberties.

We have much to discuss here. As we debate our position, we must think of the long term ramifications of using biometric technologies. Currently, RFID, facial recognition, thumb print recognition, eye scans, and surgical implants are being used in the US. Many of these technologies are being used without the public's knowledge. The FDA just approved implanted microchips last week and we just received notice that US Passports will contain RFID tracking chips. Border patrol agents currently use biometric thumb prints to scan and track illegal aliens that cross the border.

Please take the time to look into the latest news and opinions on these technologies and please let us know what you think ALIPAC's position should be. Please state if you are a member or visitor when you post.

    Kind Regards,

    Biometrics Needed

    ALIPAC:

The only real way we can get on top of this issue is to use science. If everyone gets a license or social security card with a thumb print, then the computers can turn that print into a number. This number will be the unique identity of that person.

This will make it easier on employers and law enforcement to know who is legal or not. I think everyone will go along with that no problem as long as they know the politicians will use it to control illegal immigration.

I don't know much about the RFID or the other issues, but banks are using thumb prints and I think CA requires them on licenses.

I vote YEA on Biometrics for this.

the use of biometrics is an awful idea. I don't like the prospect of people being able to track my movements. I am the kinda person who puts their cell phone on the setting where it is traceable only if i call 911. So the notion of people knowing who I am and where I am all the time is quite alarming. I vote NO to biometrics

    Thumb Prints are the answer

Like I said, they already require thumb prints on licenses in some states. Banks require this and a lot of people have to get fingerprinted for jobs.

We should just make it a standard national ID with a thumb print biometric or do that with the SS cards too.

That way the docuements can't be faked. Right now illegals can get SS cards and licenses with the help of the gangs and we have to stop that.

I looked into the RFID chips? They are now placing them in all US passports so they can be scanned at a distance. These chips bounce back information when you fire radio waves at them. Those might be good in licenses because then the police could use something like a radar gun to tell who was traveling on a particular road. No thumb print and no RFID signal? Pull them over and get the illegal aliens.

How can you think that? I don't want tacking devices in my drivers license. Suppose those things go haywire and they start thinking I am someone I'm not? Nothing is infallible, y'know. To sacrifice your own personal liberties in order to keep track of illegal aliens is an awful thing.
