US General: No ISIS Along the US Mexico Border

Despite claims in the conservative media and a statement by U.S. Rep Duncan Hunter (R-California) that 'at least four ISIS fighters' have been captured trying to sneak into the U.S. from Mexico, the Ft. Sam Houston General who is in charge of the military arm of Homeland Security says that's not the case.

"I have not seen any reports of ISIL on the border," Lt. Gen. Perry Wiggins, the Commander of Army North, told Newsradio 1200 WOAI's Michael Board.

Wiggins says he doesn't know where or how the 'rumors' of ISIS fighting sneaking in from Mexico got started.

"I don't have any information on ISIL, or that anybody who has been apprehended on the border being a member of ISIL," he said.

Wiggins says ISIL has it's hands full dealing with issues in the Middle East, and that's why the group is trying to recruit so called 'Lone Wolves' in the United States, who wouldn't have to cross the border to do damage.

He says that is what he is most worried about.

Gen. Wiggins says there are no indications from the Mexican military, which he works with on a regular basis in hemispheric security, that ISIL fighters are in Mexico.

"I can tell you definitively, and I have met with them quite a few times, and they have never said anything about ISIL."
