Chinese newspapers warn Trump on Taiwan

Two Chinese state-run newspapers are warning President-elect Donald Trump against putting the “One China” policy up for debate.

"If Trump is determined to use this gambit in taking office, a period of fierce, damaging interactions will be unavoidable, as Beijing will have no choice but to take off the gloves," wrote China Daily, an English-language newspaper, Reuters reported.

Trump last week said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that the policy is “under negotiation."

Following those comments, Beijing reiterated that the policy was not negotiable.

Another Chinese newspaper made similar comments on Monday, adding that "Taiwan may be sacrificed as a result of this despicable strategy.""The Chinese mainland will be prompted to speed up Taiwan reunification and mercilessly combat those who advocate Taiwan's independence," wrote The Global Times.

Hua Chunying, the spokeswoman for China’s Foreign Ministry, said the government would oppose any effort to alter the policy.

“If anyone attempts to damage the One China principle or if they are under the illusion they can use this as a bargaining chip, they will be opposed by the Chinese government and people,” she said.

The U.S. adopted the ‘One China’ policy in 1979, when the U.S. and China renewed diplomatic relations. Washington at the time stopped recognizing Taiwan, which China considers a breakaway province.

Trump in December broke with historic United States protocol by speaking to Taiwan’s president over the phone.

Well, China, you an old ally from WWII and we love you, but you don't tell US what to do about our own diplomatic relations. 1979 was a Jimmy Carter fiasco, a WEAK MAN with very stupid ideas. If Taiwan is not happy being united with China and prefers to be a break-away province, we have every right to talk, meet and do business with them. That doesn't interfere with any of your control over your country or even Taiwan for that matter. The are not Communists and we like that. Have you considered not being Communists any more? You may want to think about not being Communists some day. I know and understand why you are and I know you're afraid of anything different, that's fine, that's no problem, that's your decision. But if we want to have direct relations with Taiwan, we have our right to do so.

Take off the gloves China! I know you are already at war against America and our citizens and you are ripping us to shreds inside our own nation buying up everything including Hollywood! Take those gloves off so more Americans can open their eyes to China's covert war against Americans.
