Thanks for posting this! Ron Paul is a candidate who has really caught my attention. I learned the most about his position on issues that I'm most concerned with by watching the debates on You Tube. (Many probably already know this but) I was able to view one person at a time by doing a search for "candidate + debate." Getting everyone sorted out has been such a headache.

I wish I could actually vote FOR someone instead of my past pattern of voting against the other person. The 2008 election will be too important to screw it up again, ending up in another 4-8 years of horrible leadership. I've never claimed either party and 2006 was the first time I've ever voted straight ticket- Democratic Party and that was for the sole purpose of diluting the Republican strong-hold in Congress. Now I'm suffering from 'buyer's remorse' with a couple who won in my state.

Would someone explain to me why the Democrats are in such denial over the public's insistence for secure borders and nothing that even hints at amnesty? I really don't get it. All they can see is the pro-amnesty, pro-illegal immigrant lobby. I just wish for once someone would end up in DC and actually carry out the will of The People. What a delusional dreamer I am.

I want a new party... The American Party. No more fairytales from childhood and the illusion of government I was taught in school. I want all they said about Democracy to be true and not just another commodity to be bought and sold to the highest bidder, as deals are made under the table. "Of The People and By The People."

jude The Democrats are not the only ones in denial regarding illegal immigration. Boy, if we don't open our eyes and face facts, we are lost - really lost.

The Republicans have championed illegal immigration all along. It is just recently that some have had an 'awakening' and decided they were somehow against it.

Our two Texas senators have not been against illegal immigration all alone. Mr. Croynyn voted against the big amnesty bill - then began saying 'we need to build a fence'. He knows, as do all of those congresscritters, that a fence will take years to build. In that time, they can get any number of amnesty bills through - one at a time.

They know that a fence will do nothing about the 20M here already and while that fence is being built, they will have more and more anchor babies.

And last, but certainly not least, our very own President who claims to be a Republican has been the biggest cheerleader for illegals - ever.

They are by far the worse of the lot. I thank God each day for the strong Republican supporters we have in the U.S. Congress. It's definitely not the Democrats we have to thank for fighting off the last couple amnesty attempts.

I said there are some who have had an 'awakening' - but where have they been for the last 30 years? Many have been in there long enough to have done something about it. Yet, they have been silent as the tomb on the subject.

Why are they suddenly voting against amnesty ? I don't know. I think that is just their part in the charade known as 'party politics'.

How many of them are out here actively trying to change the landscape?

I do know Cronyn immediately began talking about the fence - but of course, he said we would have to consult those who live there before we do anything. Give me a break.

And if we want to talk Republicans and illegal immigration - let's talk about the PResident and his encouraging, aiding and abetting, and protection of this travesty.

Yes, the Democrats have been vocal in their support of illegal immigration. The REpublicans have used their offices to promote and protect it - with few exceptions.

You are right -right - right. That's what is making the 2008 line-up so damn confusing and frustrating for me. Both parties are guilty of allowing this problem to swell out of control. They will say one thing on the issue of the Illegal immigration debate, then turn around and do something contradictory. Who can you believe? I know talking politics will be opening a can of worms but hopefully we will continue a civil debate and educate each other. That is what I'm looking for here.

We are all a part of ALIPAC because this is a major issue to us. In fact, to me it is likely the #1 issue I will be looking at in a candidate. Sadly Iraq is almost beyond hope. It will play itself out and about all we can do is pray things won't become worse. I have never loathed a public official as much as I do this president and I hold him responsible for the deterioration of this country. But when Congress was still under Republican control, they backed each and every blunder he came up with. I don't see a party monopoly as being healthy at all and this past experiment has shown how easily a dictatorship could develop. Without opposing sides there can be no balance or debate...only "it's my way or the highway." I am so fed up with this form of government.

My eyes became wide open with the illegal immigration marches across this nation on May 1, 2006. Until seeing the utter hate, with our flag hanging upside-down UNDER the Mexican flag caused an enormous anger inside me. Then all the signs they were carrying like: "This land WAS your land!" The whole attitude of this being a 'civil RIGHTS march' is so utterly delusional. What rights?! ILLEGAL = NO RIGHTS! That should be the end of this. No additional debates should be necessary.

Then I learned about the craziness of La Reconquista, MEChA, The Nation of Aztlan, LaRaza... on and on. The very idea that a sovereign nation would willingly turn their heads the other way and allow, indeed encourage a neighboring country to blatantly invade us is so far beyond comprehension!!! I cannot understand this at all.

The only rationale for pro-amnesty, open borders, guest workers... the whole package, is to pacify the wealthy elite. They must have their cheap slave labor and to hell with any consequences. It is exactly the same thing as outsourcing jobs to China, India, etc., where they legally have slave labor sweat shops. But some jobs simply can't be outsourced, so those jobs will go to the illegals who will do the work at a fraction of the cost, not expect any benefits, and will never complain about unsafe or unfair employment practices. And look at how all of this has back fired on us. Contaminated toys, goods of all kinds, food, importing diseases, and increasing cancer rates in this country because nobody has the time or inclination to inspect anything that's going on. The rich have gotten decidedly richer and the American dream for the rest of us was flushed down the toilet about 20 years ago.

Whew! Come up for air! Sorry about the novel. All of this reading and not saying a word has caught up with me I guess. Can you tell how furious I am?
